Fromage frais ?

Does anyone know the carb count of plain fromage frais ? I tried it in the carb counter but it came up with nothing. I don't know if they have it in US. But technically it is a cheese isn't it. I was thinking if it wasn't that bad when I'm on OWL I could puree my own fruit and mix it in myself. I looked on my kids but they have added sugar etc so the carb count was 7g per pot (and they are tiny pots). I bet the no sugar and totaly natural stuff is lower.
Any help would be great.

You won't belive how many websites I've visited looking for this info for you :( .

They all go on and on about how much fat it's got or not got - boring. .

You'll have to buy some and look at the pot or packet.

the carb count on ASDA fromage frais (good for you range)is 3.3 per 100grams.i,ve used this product for a long time and it,s very nice, especially with a little no carb syrup mixed in.

Cheers

Thanks so much, I shop at asda too so thats good.
I posted someone from London who had written that he had eaten it in his journal but say's that creme freche is better on the carbs because it's higher fat.
I think I shall try both when on OWL.
Thanks again, Hev.

Fromage Frais/Creme Fraiche

Hi Hev

Yes, as already said Fromage Frais and Creme Freche are both fine on the low carb way of life. I tend to shop at Sainsburys and so the nutritional information comes from products from that store, but most varieties should be pretty similar.

Fromage Frais - Sainburys Normandy Natural
Amount Per 100 gram
Calories 116
Total Fat 8.1g
Total Carbohydrate 3
Protein 7.7g

Fromage Frais Normandy - Be Good To Yourself
Amount Per 100 gram
Calories 47
Total Fat 0.2g
Total Carbohydrate 3.9g
Protein 7.5g

Creme Fraiche
Amount Per 100 gram
Calories 380
Total Fat 40g
Total Carbohydrate 2.8g
Protein 2.3g

the italian ricotta cheese sold by asda is very good also. it,s just 2 carbs per 100grams. i think it tastes better than the fromage frais as it is slightly sweeter.it makes a lovely treat when mixed with a few chopped nuts and some strawberries.

Thanks Littleanne thats exactly the info I was looking for, Wow they are both not too bad.
Pepsi max I have never tried Ricotta before but I will, I've tried loads of new things and am very experimental.
I am not on OWL yet but am trying to plan ahead as it is quite easy not to have to think on induction, it's like a safety net, you know what you're allowed and you stick within those perimeters but there is a bit more freedom and I don't want to go berserk.
Thanks again guys, Hev.

it,s best not to add too many different foods otherwise you can get carried away. i know i did and sometimes still do!!i think it was easier at the start and then it,s not so tempting.
