Avocado fast
I was reading somewhere that for the purposes of ketosis that avocados were about perfect. Low in protein, high in fat. So I'm going to go on a 2-day avocado fast. Let's see how it goes!

It is essentially a fat fast, but no dairy products and probably a bit lower in protein. I wish I could remember where I read about the avocado being perfect for this purpose. Argh!
|
I love avocados. I would happily go for days and eat nothing but avocados. Let us know how it goes, Nancy.

Avocado Fat Fast - brilliant! Apparently, avocados are now favored for introducing solid food to babies. It's soft, not especially sweet, full of healthy fat - what's not to like? Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I read about it somewhere. Besides, got a ton of them in the fridge!

oh man, I Love avos..... but even better if I include macs...
|
Well, if I were to do this at work, I'd probably take some macs with me. Good idea!
|
What the heck are macs?
Hmm, I could eat a meal of just guacamole, that sounds yummy, but I'd have to have some kind of carrier to stand in for the tortilla chips. Plantain chips? (googling).... Dang, plantains have carbs. Well maybe a cheese crisp would do. |
macs= macadamias
I LOVE the different ways you can get good fat. |

If it were me, I'd be doing dried zucchini or cucumber chips, or flax crackers. Dehydrator recommended over oven drying. :yum: Nancy, I think I've done quite a few I-have-too-much-(x)-in-the-fridge fasts. ;) |
A benefit to living in CA...avocados are always expensive here, I'd never have "too many" in the fridge. Lucky you.
I watched Jimmy Moore a few minutes ago With an update on his complete fast...someone asked how it compared to a fat fast. He said he (and Christine) were always hungry on a Fat Fast, but now on day ten of his full fast, he has had almost none of that. Day 2 was hard, no hunger since then. Avocados are so tasty, let us know how you do hunger wise. |

You can put them in the fridge and they ripen much slower. That's what I do nowadays. Leave them out until they just start to soften and then pop them in the fridge. They can last days longer that way.
Eating first avocado now. Hmmm... Just realized I only have 5 more. Not sure that will last 2 days. Maybe Trader Joe's will have some ripe ones. |
I wonder why avocados are always cheaper here in Canada. They're on sale somewhere most of the time 3.49 for a 5-pack. Sometimes, even cheaper than that. I only buy the 5-packs. I do the fridge trick. I have one left right now from a bag I bought two weeks ago.
