Flax Danish

I don't know if something similar to this has already been posted but I thought I'd put it up just in case.

I've been getting tired of my usual fare so thought I'd try combining the idea of 2 things I like, flax bread and the mock danish. Here's what I did...

Everything is approximate and there is plenty of room for substitution.

1 tblsp (or more) of cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 tblsp oil or melted butter
1 tspn sugar free vanilla syrup (or whatever, you could sub with splenda and vanilla essence or any other flavour)
extra sweetener if sweeter taste is desired
1/2 tspn baking powder
2 1/2 tblsp flax meal

Mix wet ingredients and dry ingredients seperately.
Combine wet and dry
Spray a small container with oil (I used a small plastic square dish)
Microwave for about 1 minute.

I think the addition of cinnamon would be great. I ate it with a tspn of sugar free maple syrup

I did make it but I flavored the cream cheese to be rasberry. think this might have messed up the flavor!

Ok I am going to give this another shot in the morning and use the micro.

Hope you have better luck with it.

I've also tried this with a tablespoon of coconut cream instead of cream cheese. It made it moist and delicious. The measurements don't have to be exact and you can always play around with it.

I've never done it in the oven or with another flavoured syrup so I don't know. I just assumed it would work with any flavour.

I usually use splenda and vanilla essence now as I don't have any Davinci left and we can't get it here in Australia.

WoW I had it with a pat of butter and sugar free maple syrup. It taste just like a Harvest nut pancake from IHOP. It was the best and was a good size. I try not to use the micro to often due to the fact that it alters the composition of the food molecule, so next time I will try it in the toaster oven. I used coconut oil in it, I am truly so excited. It was so deish. Thank you.

I'm so so glad you liked it. I hope it works out well in the toaster oven.

It did! and know I am going to try it in a sandwich maker.

Today I made the flax danish in the sandwich machine. The second batch came out perfectly grilled. The secret is to fill the mold up a lot and cook it for about 4minutes. Then u have dunkin sticks. :agree:

That sounds delicous. Pity I don't own a sandwich maker, only a sandwich press. I'll have to see what I can do about aquiring one.

I will try this in the morning. I hate breakfast, am always looking for something new.

waffle maker with sandwich press well

I made this without the addition of cream cheese in the sandwich well of my electric waffle maker. Came out like 4 mini triangles. Tasted better than microwave. Will try the cream cheese next.

Made mine, heated up half the next day. DANG was it dry! I poured on the butter-syrup concoction I made but it was like eating a rope waffle. Best eaten the first day!
