in need of support

Hi everyone, this is the start of a long haul for me, I have a long way to go.
I was on the atkins before christmas, and lost over a stone in under 3 weeks, but I also lost a lot of hair, has this happened to anyone else?.if so which is the lesser of two evils, being fat or baldy? I have quite a chunk of body to get rid of so all buddies and support welcome.

Hi Glenellen,

You'll find some info about hair loss here that should reassure you: http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/newsle...07.html#letters

Cheers.

Hi glenellen,
I just joined the forum yesterday, I'd say all the support and answers you need are in here somewhere. Looks like you did a great job on the weight loss already. I hope you sort out the hair loss issues. I was reading another post earlier and someone said to take an unflattering picture of yourself and everytime you are about to waiver in your resolve, take it out and have a look and remind yourself that you no longer want to be that size and if your true to the diet it will work.
You have allready proven to yourself that you can do it. A stone in 3 weeks is fantastic.
My sisters hair falls out all the time (she'd kill me if she knew I was saying so). She does have a full head of hair so if yours is coming out in clumps best consult a Doc.
Looks like the IRISH section of the forum is a bit quite huh.
Anyway best wishes in your quest to be healthy. Give me a shout anytime you want to talk.

Hi fats, thanks for your reply as for the before and after photo's it's not for me ,if I was to see myself like this I would be so depressed and end up in my local LOL.
your right about the irish forum, its a shame really it's nice to talk to one of our own,I moved from dublin nearly two years ago so it dosent take me much to get depressed !! and yes i did find some answers on the hair thing. no-one slse can notice it but when your kids are collecting your hair you know there is a problem lol.
any way how do you find the diet? I hope it's working for you.

This part of the Forum sucks!
Come back people of Ireland all is forgiven!

hi everyone
Im Irish..but living in England at the moment..hope to move back home next autumn. I've just finished my first week of induction and have lost 5 lbs.(yippee). But I do agree with you fats the irish forum is very quite. Which is unusual because the atkins book is considered quite a good seller at home..

Ummmm... I'm a Yank... but I'm of Irish descent!! My grandfather's name was John Wesley Elder :)

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and ask how everyone is doing. I know I don't live in your country, but someday I will visit, and we can all meet and you will exclaim over how thin your Irish-American "cousin" is!!

Hi kittyford, your doing great 5lbs in a week! so keep up the good work and yes the book was a great seller here, but a lot of people believed it is too strict, even my family only got as far as the book,! so I will have to show them how it's done ;-)

glenellen Mon, Jan-26-04 08:16

Hi lovesong, you have done a great job on the weight loss, I have a fair bit to go but I will get there. I dropped back a bit after a funeral last week. I have a fluid problem!!!! (if you know what i mean) but the diet does prove difficult when there is a family gathering, funerals been one of them

kittyford Wed, Jan-28-04 13:39

Hi glenellen
Yeah I was really pleased with how I did on week 1. But went to stay with friends for the weekend..and every meal was all carbs and lot of alco..so I slid right off the diet. Anyway I'm back on it again now. My mum read the book and decided it 'couldn't be healthy'. I think its a really good diet..especially for a sugar addict like me..

CARMEL W Thu, Jan-29-04 15:10

hi to you all I have almost given up on the Irish section of this forum as it's so quite ,but I agree it would be nice to share ideas and tips with fellow countrymen and women so come on lets get started and maybe arrange to log on at a set time ,then we can all moan about the lack of understanding about lowcarbing and atkins in particular that exists here in Ireland.

glenellen Fri, Jan-30-04 08:04

Hi carmel that is a great idea! We need to liven this forum up a bit, so were do we start?

glenellen Fri, Jan-30-04 08:11

Hi kitty back to the drawing board for you! and believe me I know the feeling soooo well, but not to worry it looks like myself, carmel W, and you can have a really good moan about it

kittyford Sat, Jan-31-04 00:56

Hi glenellen and carmel.
Yes this is definitely a very quite forum..and that's one thing you can't usually say about us irish.
