What did you have for Thanksgiving Dinner?

I had 4 slices of uncured ham, two slices of organic cheddar in a low carb millet and flax lavash (flatbread). For desert I had an Atkins Endulge chocolate/coconut bar. To drink I had mineral water.

That was my big meal of the day.

I went to a nature reserve with my wife and had this as a picnic mid-day meal.

The weather was great, we saw a lot of ducks that have flown south from the frozen north, and lots of wading birds.

I'm thankful for my health, my wife, and our good health.

Seems so long ago given our crazy weekend with family wedding, snowstorm one, and snowstorm two just arriving......think it was just turkey turkey turkey as I was home alone so kids could have overnight with grammy.

Duck. 2 ducks, to be precise, Small group, just DH, my brother, and myself. We each like a duck leg, so I roasted two birds. Mashed root veg; Brussels sprouts; roasted butternut squash with sage and toasted walnuts; savory applesauce, with onions & marjoram; pumpkin pie. Not necessarily LC, with all the root veg, but all whole foods, home made, sugar & grain free, except the pie. Not to brag (well yes, I am bragging) I make an excellent pumpkin pie. I've tried with a LC crust, and none of us were happy. So now I make it as I always have done, and leave most of it for the guys, who have no interest in LC. I had a small slice for dessert, with a good dose of whipped cream. Scale went up, as expected, but is already on it's way back down.
Now I need to navigate my upcoming birthday, and then Christmas, and then I am home free for another year. Should be OK, not worried about losing track.

I had similar to Verbena. I did eat my own pumpkin pie (grain free, sweetened with maple syrup) and my own maple cranberry sauce. Turkey, gravy, corn and green beans. It was delicious. I'll eat the same on Christmas. Scale did not go up but I tried to swim 1200 yards the next day and I felt like I was crawling through tar. Very tough and I'm blaming it on the carbs.

Jschwab, similar here. Both Friday and Saturday I was so achy and sore, even DH and brother were concerned. I also blame it on the carbs and the unaccustomed gluten. Not all that much really, but enough, I think, to make a problem. Birthday and Christmas should be better, as I have no particular "bad things" I long for then. Give me a nice bit of roast beef and I can easily avoid anything else on the table :-)

As recorded in my journal:

Salad course of greens, onions, shredded carrots and their homemade ranch dressing which is really good.

Appetizer course of shrimp and cheese. My indulgence here is cocktail sauce, but it's not like I ate it like soup.

Main course was prime rib (the size of THREE decks of cards) with their horseradish sauce. Likely seeds oils in the mayo, but once again, it's a garnish.

Dessert I did get a little more indulgent, with the insides of two small slices of pumpkin pie with whipped cream, with a high margin of crust avoidance. Sugar there for sure, but also buffered with all the fat and protein.

And a glass of dry rose wine I happily nursed for four hours.

Decadent, yet probably the healthiest meal eaten in the whole place that day
