Reflux
Can anyone give me ideas on what to eat for severe reflux? Maybe a list of what to eat and what to stay away from. It's for my adult daughter who has severe reflux.

I had severe reflux. I took daily medication, felt I couldn't live without it. Then I went low carb and the reflux went away, never to return again. That was over 10 years ago. Needless to say I no longer take medication. This was just talked about on dietdoctor.com
https://www.dietdoctor.com/?s=GERD With lots of comments from people about how it worked for them. Jean |
Aloe is really helpful for it, while she's learning to eat foods that don't lead to it.

Thank you so much Jean, I passed on that link. I hope she follows my advice. She is insulin resistant like me and also has severe PCOS in addition to the severe reflux, so I know she needs to be LC.

Thanks MickiSue, going to pass that info on too. |
I also was going to link to DietDoctor's new guide on it, but Jean beat me to it.
There is an old thread on it here: http://forum.lowcarber.org/archive/...p/t-461849.html Dr William Davis has much info and success stories on his blog about curing reflux. Reading Wheat Belly is what convinced my DH to give up all grains. http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/?s=Heartburn Or search GERD or reflux too |
My GERD was debilitating, and when my MIL died of esophageal cancer, I got serious about researching natural ways to stop mine. This was maybe 15 years ago.
I'm sure all the above-mentioned dietary cures are terrific, but not every acid reflux case is the same. Some stomachs have too much acid, some have too little, and it's hard to know which you fall in. My cure was fresh, raw apple with skin. From the first night I had an apple before bed, my GERD was gone and has never returned. Sometimes still, if I've eaten too spicy a meal too late in the day, I recognize the feeling and eat some fresh, raw apple. LC? No. But for me the expenditure of carbs is worth the cure of a terrible symptom. |
Thanks Janet and Blues....I will be passing on on this info.
