Ottawa Area Get Together/Dinner

Want to meet some interesting people?
Have a great meal with people that share a way of eating?
Discuss the various LC programs.

Decide whether you want to do it on the 7th, Friday or 8th, Saturday and we'll pick from the first three restaurants proposed. They should be centrally located and have several types of Protein.

I PP/IF so am pretty flexible and we have done this in the past and had a great time.

Preferred Day:
Restaurant Idea:

We'll do a little poll next week to select the date and place.

Here is the link to the last one.

I'm in, Friday works best for me. Not sure what to recommend for a restaurant.

K, I don't live in Ottawa, but visit a lot.

Have you gone to Fridays???? OMG, the best prime rib in the world!

Ottawa Sat, Nov-24-07 14:32

Friday is great for me as well and I have one other person - non poster (just starting) interested as well.

I've heard great things about Friday's as well but have not been yet. I'll get the restaurant link and put it up with a few others early this week, and we can go with the majority vote.
Tuckers Market Place has the best salad bar in town and their after lunch buffet is better than the lunch time selection. Parking in the market is a little tricky but we could always walk 4 or 5 blocks to help burn off the dinner.
One thing I miss since is going to Noodle houses like Pho Bo Ga, etc., with large tureens of broth with your meat choice and veggies along with a hot sauce. I have made them at home using the noodles from Chinatown but it is a lot of work.

Any other suggestions for a restaurant? If we start a tradition we could eventually have them at my home or someone else's but my wife tends to think on-line people are a little cultish to have our first one at home. :help:  Besides she is low carbs/low fat/ and snacks at night.

Less than 2 weeks away and although Wa'il is a fun guy, I'd like to have dinner with a few others as well.
At our last one (way back) we discussed various programs, our food choices, things we make at home, and just social chat. We also covered where to find things in town like Xylitol, Eurythritol, LC noodles, etc.. We are great guys, not looking for dates, ;) just to enjoy a meal with like minded people.

This is my first year on IF ... well 4 months into it and I am able to modify my food targets a bit more and have less to fear than shown in the above image.

If you are interested in such a dinner let us know by responding and I'll wait until late next week to make the reservation.

I don't live in Ottawa anymore, but most of my extended family still live there.

And I will vouch for the fact that Friday's Roast Beef House (on Elgin) is fabulous! I discovered Bernaise sauce there. ;) And there is a great piano bar in the upstairs lounge.

I'll tell you, if I lived in Ottawa you couldn't keep me out of that place.

A low carbers haven and gorgeous!

Plus, it's got a great story. It's haunted by the doctor who used to live there.

Thanks Valerie and Pennink. I haven't been but that is now three endorsements. We had several people out before and hopefully this goes ahead.

For those interested in sports as well, there is a mixed DodgeBall team forming that has a few openings in the Ottawa Sports & Social Club, that starts in January.

You should know that Friday's is not an inexpensive outing though, but you can check out the menu online to see if it's what you are looking for.

Thanks for the link, I thought we're talking about TGI Friday :)

Maybe that's what's scaring off people from joining in? I think we did o.k. at Local Heroes and Red Lobster the last couple of times. Doesn't have to be anything fancy...

Local Heroes or Red Lobster sounds good then if we could drum up a few more.

Fridays sounds great but would top out just under $50.00 with tip. :(

Seasonal House Salad ~ $ 5.75
Baron Cut ~ a thick portion of this finest roast beef - 9 oz. ~ $ 29.75
or a
12 oz. Calgary Cut Rib-eye ~ $ 29.75
The above includes seasonal vegetables, and a choice of fresh-cut fries, rosemary-roasted, garlic-mashed, or baked potato, or saffron-seasoned rice.

Besides ... I don't know if I could handle that "thick portion" of 9 oz.. :D

Wa'il,
Would you be into Monday night Dodgeball for the winter (Jan to Apr)?

No, too violent for my taste :D

Wa'il,
It looks like a no go for getting some people for a restaurant.

Do you want an incredible home cooked dinner under 10 ECC? Dessert will push it up 5 but it's worth it and I will be coming off a 23/1 fast which means a great tasting, High Protein meal. Bring a guest if you want.
I'm located centrally between Bank & Bronson.

tamarian Wed, Dec-05-07 15:49

Sure, I'm all for it. Or if it's a potluck, I can make a killer lamb shoulder roast, which is becoming my specialty now for a breif Stefansson's experimentation :)

Wa'il

Ottawa Wed, Dec-05-07 19:23

If you could bring the lamb I could provide the salad, some veggies and a dessert. Also I have a Chipotle Chili I am working on tonight and we could try it as well.
My wife will attend and is looking forward to the dinner and we have a few entertainment ideas as well.
