For Pete's Sake: Eggs Again

Just when we were so happy with the marvelous egg:
Quote:
Then a report in JAMA of a very thorough long-term analysis involving nearly 30,000 men and women initially free of cardiovascular disease suggested otherwise. The researchers, headed by Victor W. Zhong of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, found that eating as little as one-half an egg a day could increase a person’s risk of heart disease, stroke and premature death.
This was reported by our old friend Jane Brody in the NYT on April 22.

The rest of the article which you can read Here does NOT support any kind of panic as to egg eating. Oh, maybe if you ate your 1/2 daily egg with hash browns, white toast and strawberry jam you'd have a problem. In fact, several paragraphs actually support the health benefits of eating eggs. So why the scary headlines?? Ms. Brody must need some ink.

Please do carry on. Consult your health care provider about your particular challenges.

ROFL

I have NEVER stopped eating eggs, nor will I. Been having 2 turkey eggs a day, over easy! ( yes, turkey eggs! )

Yep, and putting the fear in her egg-eating readers is her game. More pablum for the masses.

How many of those eggs are mixed into pancakes and waffles?

Not new, not "another" study. This is just Jane Brody chiming in a month late on the SAME study by Victor Zhong et al, which we discussed - and debunked - here back in March .. https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=482171

I do agree though .. yawn and carry on

If you read the whole article, you'll laugh out loud. One paragraph explains that the "problem" was cholesterol consumption. More than 300mg/day was considered hazardous.
Quote:
Seeking to clarify how consuming cholesterol influenced the risk of cardiovascular disease and death, Dr. Zhong and co-authors zeroed in on egg consumption, the cleanest dietary measure of how much cholesterol participants ate.
So...not eggs after all.

The end of the article is two paragraphs explaining how nutritious and convenient eggs are to a healthy diet.

Thanks, Doreen. I didn't connect it with the March thread. Same silly song, right?

A better egg health article.
