sugar question

Hi, I recently came across a very good high fiber muffin recipe. The only problem is that it called for 1.5 cup sf syrup. i used english toffee form torino. Albeit, they were tasty, but i did not like the aftertaste and they gave me a headache. can i cut this with stevia or something else?? I can't use the sugar twins either.

You can use all stevia to replace the syrup and make up the 1 1/2 cups syrup with water. Or as you pointed out, go half and half. The important thing is to use the same amount of liquid in the recipe.

Did you use the newr Torani syrup sweetened with Splenda? The old Torani syrups were made with aspartame.

It was splenda. i don't know why this got me so sick. horrible headache... have eaten few sf candies in the past year, other than that, no sugar. wonder if the stevia would be better--- do i use powder or liquid? how much? thank you

Brands of stevia differ in intensity and it doesn't matter if you use liquid or powder. Here is a chart to help you out

Hi,

Is there any carbs in stevia tea ( dried stevia leaves)? I sometimes use it to create stevia syrup and use in cooking.

Thanks

I would imagine that they would be minimal, the same as regular tea.

Tigger,

To make the stevia syrup, i just let the stevia bag sit in hot water for few minutes and let it cool and keep it in the frig. I like to use it in my shake/smoothies.

Where do you get the stevia tea? Do you get that at a health food store? Thanks, by the way. It sounds really interesting--is it like the stevia liquid that I buy?

Tig :)
