help...question
hey.....ive been walking for about 4 miles a day but at a steady slow pace......the last two days ive walked 3 and a half miles at a park faster than usual about 13 minutes to a mile...when im walking i feel my fingers swelling up. ive never felt it before until the last 2 days at the park...does anyone know what that means?
I have ran into this problem too...don't know what the cause but would like to know what it means also!
well the answer i got twice was that its when you hold your fingers down pointing to the ground its the blood rushing to them so you should point you fingers up when exercising...and my aunt said she thinks the heat may have something to do with it as well
LOL sorry to laugh but I can just picture you walking in the park with your fingers pointing up!! Just like john travolta in saturday night fever!!
haha never thought about it like that....i think im just gonna walk and deal with it
me too!
I heard somewhere that swelling in your fingers while walking means that you are dehyrated. Mine do the same thing too, and I don't think I'm always dehydrated, so who knows!
That happens to me sometimes too. I'm sure it has something to do with hydration and/or heart rate/ thermogenics. Doesn't our skin swell when we are hotter? I'm thinking that's it. My ring always fits looser when i am cold, and tighter when i'm hot and sweaty.

Here is an article about the cause/prevention from Wendy Bumgardner a veteran walker/trainer:
http://walking.about.com/cs/med/a/swollenhands.htm I would recommend to check her walking about site/forum - it is one of the best in this subject. |
