Zero or low carb peanut butter UK?
 

Anyone manage to find low or no carb peanut butter here in the uk?? :q:

You will never find zero carb peanut butter as peanuts have carbs!

I make my own by blitzing peanuts in my coffee grinder with a little groundnut oil till it is at the texture my husband likes.

One ounce of KP peanuts and some oil made into PB this way has about 2 net carbs and doesn't have the additives some commercial brands have.

they also do chocolate bars that help you loose weight with extra fibre and only have 2 G per 50g bar . now that s atreat where u can feel less guilty once every few weeks

Most of those supposedly lowcarb bars have sugar alcohols in them, which some of us process like ordinary carbs making them not that low in carbs!!

Here in the US I just go with something the whole family will actually eat - Skippy Natural. It's 4g net per 2 Tablespoons, which is a good amount of peanut butter, and filling. Keep in mind, 4g. carb is 16 calories total...not heaps, and with all the fat and protein in PB, my experience is that there's no sugar rush or craving or anything like that.

Whole Foods Markets (in London and Glasgow) have a machine that grinds peanuts into peanut butter... nothing added, just peanuts! Of course the peanuts themselves will have their natural carbs, but ... no sugar added. And I can vouch for the fact that it tastes amazing!

In addition to a peanut butter machine, they have an almond one as well...

I buy a peanut butter from ASDA - Whole Earth Crunch Original with no added sugar = ingredients, roasted peanuts, palm oil and salt - 7.4 g carbs in 100g - it's not cheap but it is delicious and is my life saver when I get a craving for something sweet :)

I have also read that the one that Holland & Barrett sell is really nice as well - much cheaper, about £5.50 for a kilo tub - they sell it in smaller jars which works out quite expensive but I am going to try it to see how it compares with the Whole Earth one.

It really is my lifesaver food :)

I have now got a tub of the Holland & Barrett peanut butter, slightly higher in carbs but so much cheaper - only £5.49 for a kg which works out about £3 a kilo cheaper than Whole Earth.

Haven't opened it yet but will let you know how it tastes when I do - mind I won't compromise on taste, will go back to Whole Earth if the H&B doesnt come up to scratch.

Will probably be opening it this weekend Trifecta - also got a jar of almond butter as well and havent opened that either :lol:

Well I wont be buying any more of either - the oil sits on the top and you have to stir it in and seeing the oil sitting on the top put me off :(

Haven't tasted the almond butter but the peanut butter is definitely not a patch on Whole Earth.
