Let me tell you about nerves and PEA

Here is why it is abbreviated: PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) is a compound naturally produced by your body.

My particular issues involve the nervous system, which is how I stumbled upon this “food supplement,” as it is known in Europe. While one of the few things I don’t struggle with is chronic pain, and that is this compound’s main use, it involves a pertinent pathway.

The local health food store started stocking CBD oil last year. I tried it, and as happens SO often, I had a couple of weeks where I thought it might work... and then that ship sank. Still, the fact that it did work for a while made me keep researching that particular body system. Which is how I encountered this:

https://www.amazon.com/Life-Extensi...ZZBB/ref=sr_1_6

It is a AM/PM compound, and one box lasts 30 days. I have been taking this for two-three months now. The Life Extension brand (I regard them and NOW as reliable brands) has different formulations for morning and evening. Since the price is not much different from other formulations, I have stuck with it.

I have experienced improvements in sleep and CALM and what I can only describe as “brain pain.” While not physical like a headache, it expresses itself in some serious discomfort, emotionally, distinct from other issues which I have successfully put into remission. I can’t call my anxiety and autoimmune “cured” because if I stop treating it the symptoms return but I WILL TAKE IT.

Around the same time I added RAW thyroid because my research indicated long term stress (yes, that would be ME) could put me into subclinical hypothyroid.

I have been over and over the symptoms of low thyroid, and aside from crushing fatigue I’ve never ticked off a single one. But since this affects so many other systems, and it’s absolutely torturous to get properly tested, I just cut to the chase.

DH (CFS/ME) was finally diagnosed as hypothyroid, which I had suspected for years, but we had so many other things going on that we didn’t get that nailed down until the middle of this past summer. Diagnosed by Doctor A who declined to treat him further because he didn’t know anything about it, prescribed by Doctor B who we fired for bias and incompetence, and it was an artificial hormone. (See what I mean? She dismissed everything we said.) We are waiting for a follow-up with Dr. C.

However, I got DH raw thyroid because people said they could use it as a short-term supplement when they ran out of their prescription. Turned out, the artificial seems to be working for him.

Personally, artificial has NEVER worked for me. But here it was, and subclinical is definitely a THING, and so I started taking it.

After 2-3 months of both and 2 weeks off work, I have not felt this ready and rested IN A DECADE. :agree: :agree:

In case it helps anyone, here you go.

Thanks Werebear, I think I'm going to try both. Too much detail to explain why but your descriptions of symptoms sound very familiar.
Thank you so much for sharing!

I was wondering, the Amazon seller is Seagull Trading, have you ordered from that seller before?

WereBear Thu, Jan-02-20 10:50

That I cannot say. Every time I order from Amazon it seems like a different price and a different seller.

While iHerb.com is more consistent, it is reliable for getting the RAW thyroid, while Amazon is hit and miss.

The thing about Iherb is that they show the expiration date of the product. Amazon does not and I have heard that they won't give refunds if the date is about to expire or already expired.
I do see that Amazon is less expensive than Iherb on the first product, PEA, by about $10+, so there's that...

Thanks for posting.
Getting the treatmenrs we need is a job in itself. Found a new doc in town not afraid to subscribe hirmone treatments. When diagnosed with hyperthyroid, I said I would really like to have tedtosterone more. I tave up thyroid for T. Why couldnt I have both??

My copay is $60 on top of very costly insurance so I myst choose between eye doctor and specialist. I will just see a glasses only doc, not the doc I really need so I can go to the hormone specialist.

Medicine is too exhausting.....thank you for the push.

Thanks for tip! Will check my new shipment. iHerb is reliable and I do like them.

Reporting that the better sleep has held, I tried Lake Avenue Nutrition's PEA with PQQ to take an additional capsule morning and evening. Research indicated that there aren't any recommended doses or logged side effects, and they are using it for all kinds of nerve conditions.

Sleep still good. I am going to bed later and waking up later, spending 9-10 hours to get 7-8 hours, but that's good and I'll take it.

I also found out this type of supplement is called a "nutricuetical." Love it.

Ive been taking the Raw Thyroid for about a week+ and I think I'm noticing an improvement in more energy. I'm going to keep going and see what else happens. I'm also taking it with the iodine.

Ironically, the PEA is making me more relaxed, and so less energy, but it's a lot better than tired & wired which was the problem with high cortisol.

I can relate to tired and wired. The body is exhausted but the brain won't turn off... Last night I fell right to sleep so I'm hoping it's working. I might add the other one too (PEA) but I need to see what this one is doing with the iodine.

Well, this week was a challenge. Lots of meetings at work and filling in at events. Which I now realize is a form of torture but at least I can choose the least horrifying form :)

So the last couple of days the gap when I wake up in the middle of sleep has stretched to 3 hours, like last night. Definitely stress and cortisol issues, and I'm wondering if I must skip dinner now that I am doing the Dr. Kruse Big A$$ Breakfast, which is 50 grams of protein and a lot of fat.

Here's the Leptin Prescription:

with links.

Interesting about the PEA which I’d never heard of. Also the RAW thyroid. I wonder how it differs from other products like Thyrogold or Nutri-Meds thyroid.

WereBear Mon, Feb-03-20 05:00

From what I can tell, the RAW thyroid is different because it's not like a multivitamin in SUPPORT of the thyroid. It's actual ORGANS and some real thyroid hormone in there.
