2 meals, how to time vitamins

I tested low on B12, and I decided to use the Hair, Skin Nails vitamins since I lost a lot of hair from my latest thyroid problem.

Vitamins say with food 3x daily. I really only eat 1 meal and a snack. Does it matter if I double up the vitamins? Or is the 3rd pill not worth worrying about at all?

For the hair-skin-nail formula, I'd say it's fine to take 2 with one meal and 1 with the other meal/snack. However, I'm willing to bet those have only tiny amounts of vit B12 in them .. even 3 pills a day won't provide enough to have much therapeutic benefit. I'm also willing to bet the B12 is the cyanocobalamin form, which tends to be poorly absorbed from the gut whether taken with food or not.

Low B12 and hypothyroid often go hand in hand. Read more here .. https://stopthethyroidmadness.com/b12/

The best absorbed form of B12 is methylcobalamin ... at least 1,000 mcg per day. I use Natural Factors sublingual tablets. They dissolve under the tongue and are quickly absorbed, thus bypassing the poor gut-absorption problem . They're more expensive, but I usually buy in the large 180 tab. bottle, which often has a bonus of 30 free tabs.

Doreen, you are absolutely correct. Mine is the cyanocobalamin form of B12. My dr told me to get sublingual B12. I'm pretty sure Sprouts carries Natural Factors brand.

Thanks very much!

Thanks for the link. It was my thyroid dr that tested, now I understand. I have several symptoms on the list.

You're welcome :)

It's still a good idea to continue taking those hair-nail-skin formula tabs . I'm sure they contain other important nutrients besides B12.

I'll keep taking them, I bought the 240 caplet bottle. Only 8 mcg of B12. This is my 3rd day taking it and I have felt a little more energetic every day. Today was my first day in a long time that I skipped the nap
