Today was my regular resistance training day, but...I felt resistant! However, thanks to being accountable to this stellar group of Plankers, I did do my planks:

2 min forearm
1 min x 2--side/knee
1 min straight arm

I did a lot of running around today, beginning with a leisurely visit to the zoo early in the morning. After that...just errand stuff. It was a beautiful day here--not too hot.

Happy 4th of July, Americanos!

Happy Saturday Everybody!

This AM I did my front plank (forearms/toes) = 1 min, 20s rest and 45s. Next set will be Monday!

Happy Plankin'! :D

I REALLY wanted to be lazy today..... but I wasn't! :D In fact I added some T-Tapp half frogs to the workout. It takes me about 8 minutes to do it all.

Yes, I am pretty shaky towards the end of the minute (or half minute)...then I remind myself that I am doing this for me :agree: . My arms and abs are burning today! I'm thinking of taking Sundays off to rest - just the workout part, not the steps. That's every day.

I went to a Canada Day street fair yesterday and ended up with over 15000 steps. Go me!

Enjoy your Saturday wherever you are.

Toes and straight arms.... 1 FULL MINUTE! Yippee for me!

That was followed by a loooong rest and then three knees-and-forearm planks. 60s, 30s, 30s

Starting Monday - assuming I'm not still so sore I can't get into position at all - my plan is to start working on toe-forearm planks. Do one first "real" plank first - no matter how short it turns out to be - followed by two or three of easier the versions for as long as I can hold them.

The scales may have stopped moving but I am getting stronger!

GO BEV!!

A new high, yesterday: 60/rest/40.

Once I get to 60/rest/60, I'm going to start upping the first one by 10 seconds at a time.

Happy Monday Everybody &

Wishing all Americans a Super Duper Terrific 4th!!

This AM I did my front plank (forearms/toes) = 1.5 min, 20s rest and 45s. Pretty pleased with myself for increasing the first one by 30s!

Hey that means since I started 10 sessions ago, I've managed to be 1/2 way to doing 3 min Planks! Right on!

Next set will be Wednesday!

Happy Plankin'!

Happy 4th of July fellow Plankers!

I had said that I was going to take yesterday off but I decided that one day off at this point might lead to 2 or 3 or ?? so I didn't.

The 1 minute front (forearms and toes) is getting easier. 30 second side planks is challenging but getting better.

I think I will add 10 seconds each to each Plank starting tomorrow.

With all the new core exercises my abs are saying "WTH?????" but I'm saying "Just Do It".

Once my new habit is fully ingrained, I will take a day off each week to rest.

Wowie, Jo! Thanks for the fireworks!! Great planking too!

My Planks:
front plank (forearms/toes)--2.5 (aaaargh!!)
side plank (forearms/knees)--1.5 (double aargh!! Left side definitely weaker)

I combined the planking with my favorite Zaki total body workout video: light weights plus light cardio. This workout also promotes balance, and uses core strength throughout. I stuck in the extra planks after the warm-up.

Now I feel like Wonder Woman. :D

That's the spirit! And rest days are good, too.

Hey I've found another website with a great Plank Challenge:

http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/work...allenge/?page=1

It has some really interesting planks!

I personally will be stickin' to my 1st challenge (3 min standard planks) before I move into doing other types of planks... baby steps... :agree:

MickiSue Mon, Jul-04-16 11:00

Both Sat and yesterday were going backwards. 60/rest/35 on Sat, 60/rest/25 yesterday.

Kind of like losing and then bouncing, yes? :agree:

But just like with eating, it's not the absolute measurement that matters as much as the effort. Or so I'm telling myself.

Today, on the new scale, the weight was the same, but fat % was down 1% and muscle up 1%.

I'll take it.

Isn't that really what we are all wanting? No one but me sees the number on the scale or on the size label in my clothes, but lowering the fat % and adding muscle % will certainly make me look different!

My scale hasn't budged but the capris I wore a month ago that were just a little tight I just slid off without undoing them.......

Go Plankers!

What a wonderful NSV!!! Congrats and I'm hoping to see the same kind of NSVs from this effort.

Holy cow, Jo. That challenge looks WAY beyond my abilities. That woman has some serious pipes. Not to mention the six pack.

"Way beyond" maybe right now... but who's to say we can't do some of those in 3 or 4 months time? :agree:

Hey you didn't hear me jump in & say Oh HELL YEAH, Imma gonna tackle those too right now!

Baby steps, my friend! :D

Exactly. Consistency only means hanging in there. This thread nudges me to be responsible to myself.

Yep. Stuff happens! Good stuff. I'm reminding myself that the shorts I slipped on today--these little-bit-baggy shorts--were my "test pants" two years ago. Then, I was mad at myself because they were my favorite shorts, and I couldn't get them past my knees. This beats scales and tapes for reward!
