Gift of winter keeps delivering. Feels like Christmas - let's all join in song...

“What kind of mad man are you?” “Oh, the regular kind.” - That made me laugh.
And that singing....almost bad as people at the karaoke night at the resort. I think that might be it for the snow. I skated with the ladies last night and they were complaining about it. I said just do what I do - pretend it’s still February. They were not amused by that or me bringing up that Facebook meme that it is January 96th. Hopefully you won’t have too long of a wait between snow and open water. |
Changing seasons, winter into summer, skip spring! Was out on Saturday freeriding on some country roads with carving/pumping skateboards so fun!
Link to Video: http://downhaul.com/freeride/180421...shHill2-web.mp4 And yesterday headed up north to kitesnowboard "one more time" did have to wait for wind for a while on the frozen lake. Ho hum, having fun and getting some vitamin D... Feels really good to be outside in short sleeves. New windSupFoil board is here - installed last years foil on it with adapter. Hoping to get out on the water down south of here this coming weekend! Weight up corresponding to increased activity and beating the body takes (inflammation?) Planned fasting today and maybe a little skateboarding later. Ha! Usually I'm behind the camera but was the subject in a couple of these shots with friends this weekend. Super light winds but excellent company and sunshine!

Yesterday was relaxing and fasting. The day before that was excitement and danger. You need both. At least I do!

I have not much to say about that as the body does what it does. |
Looks like fun Thud! I'm guessing water skiis will soon be in order....

It's ALL about the fun. Thanks for the visit Marvin! I'm calling it a year on ice. I'm done risking swimming with a snowboard attached to my feet. Probably a few good sessions left but I hear there's some sail-able water on the St. Croix river near Bayport - might check that out on Sunday. Tomorrow Skateboarding and dodging cars, safer then the ice i think. From yesterday, a quick look at the conditions on Lake Minnetonka: http://downhaul.com/kites/180426san...each426-web.mp4 Weird frame from the video above during a dissolve, neat! |
I was going to ask you if that dark ice was safe! Then someone's boarding on it!
|
So cool! Is boarding on the ice tougher than snow? Looks like it might be a bit trickier with no blades on ice.
Mind the cars. I’ve seen so much bad driving in the last week. So many almost accidents and me avoiding cars after getting cut off in traffic. People’s minds seem to be on the nice weather and not the road. I don’t think that is the kind of excitement and danger you are looking for 😉 |
Great Month April Is! so much time on the snow and only a few days between that and water. I did head down to Iowa on Sunday to try out the new foil board it was very tough, too many variables for me to deal with so I switched back to last year board after getting my ass kicked for a while. That was fun but still a handful. windSUPfoiling in 24-40mph is tuff enough. I'm so sore still but getting better. No injuries. Very intersting to see weight bounce around with stress to body. I was the kind of sore yesterday that makes it so you don't hardly want to move, better today. Ice out on some local lakes and lighter wind so I'm headed out after Dr. Appointment (physical) were I'll probably get blood work and asked for a Fasting Insulin test - we'll see if they do that.

Yeah Marvin, that was an old friend ripping on the ice. The dark I was pretty hard but when it get's dark it starts to absorb the rays. Took a look out the yacht club camera and that area should be open with a few days. So, Ice never safe but "safer" with experience. You only drown but once. Life is full of unexpected surprises - Pleasant, Unpleasant and Neutral. Quote:
Hi Renee, yes the ice is tougher on a snowboard. Skies definitely have the advance on hard ice. The soft slushy ice was not to bad. On good ice I much prefer to have SKATES on - that's the perfect vehicle for small kite. So fun. Maybe next year you and your husband and friends can come out and give it a try. I have plenty of kites :) |

Sounds awesome! I’d be down for that.  |

Found local open water out west. It's been a real challenge getting rides on this new board. It's sooo small. I complained to my friend and he reassued me, "You'll get it". I either will, or I will not. Spending time in water that had ice on it a few days ago doesn't help speed up the learning process much ha! The 'Hulk' Another day at the office... friend doing some kite line maintenance... |
So is the size making it a balance issue? Less stabilization? Truly curious about that. My guess is that you will have it mastered in short order.
It’s been beautiful weather but I bet the lake is still cold. Enjoy the ride! |

I think that it's there's a lot less waterline and volume in front of the mast foot. It makes the board hard to keep straight and the nose from submerging underwater when not on foil. I was able to get a lot of non-foiling practice the other day so finding ways to adapt to it but super hard on body possition. Like most things new from a physical perspective, I'm trying to use my thinking brain to control my body and test different things. This is part of the process of internalizing the things that work, mostly by trial, error and accident - there's really no one to share notes with - New Frontiers = embrace Fears Not really exercise, activity or "work out" related but I figured I'd post my lipid profile for anyone interested and for the record. How does activity affect this, who knows. It probably doesn't hurt. For sure all the activity has helped my respiration, pulse rate and blood pressure (measured by a white coat May 1st): Systolic - 118 Diastolic - 72 Pulse: 54 beats per minute |
