How about Blue Cheese? Maries Chunky Blue Cheese says "0" carbs - can I count on that?

hi Pebbs,

In the USA, manufacturers are only required to declare carbohydrates to the nearest whole gram. Meaning, if a food has 0.5 gm in it, then they can legally claim "0" carbs. Those half-grams can add up pretty quickly (note - in Canada and Europe .. must declare carbs to the nearest 1/10th gram, so more accurate)

Cheese, like all dairy products, has some carbs in it. Blue Cheese, Ranch, Creamy Caesar and similar dressings - as long as it's the regular, not light or lowfat variety - will be lower in carbs than most. To be safe, it would be best to assume 0.5g per serving, usually 1 Tbsp. If you use more, 2 Tbsp, then count 1 whole gram.
