Question Ravenous and Crazy before RM!!

Hello Happy Campers!

This is my first posting in this forum!

I was on the CAD plan a couple years ago, I would eat a CM for breakfast and lunch, but as the time for my RM approached I would feel insanely ravenous, irritable and very edgy (never shaky or low energy though..quite the opposite!), after my RM I would be quite happy and completely craving free though for the rest of the day. Back when I was on this program, I was down to 235 and I suddenly lost it, stuffing every carb I could fit down my gullet! I'm back doing this again, because it's the only thing that ever worked for me!

Could someone tell me why I feel so crazy right before my RM?

Thanks!

Steve

I had this feeling for the first week or 2. I would get grumpy and irritable as soon as I would get hungry I would "Have to" eat. This got better for me-I am now in week 8 and this never happens. Try to hang in-eat that salad first and PLAN you meal so that it is balanced!

If you weren't shaky of low energy, I'm not sure what would be the cause of that. Maybe you just need to try a CS a while before your RM so you could relax a little and enjoy the meal. Also make sure that your CM's don't have something in them that could be dropping you too quickly. Hopefully, this is something that will pass.

Glad you are returning. You won't be sorry.

Default sorry to say but...

Like I said, I tried this plan before and even after 4 months of doing it I still had the crazies about 1-2 hours before my RM. After the RM I would feel really peaceful, kinda like what I imagine a heroin addict would feel after he/she got their fix! I don't know, maybe I got a little too free with my carb intake during my RMs and my body got to anticipate my "drug fix" every day...it's only a theory, but who knows?

thanks for the quick replies though friends!

I don't know. Like I said, you might try a snack between lunch and rm and see if it helps.

I feel that way after RM too. Often have made the drug analogy...afterall...we are addicts!

Smile Hi Steve

Good to see you here, we love to have new CAD-ettes jump on board

I have experience exactly what you are talking about. Not every day in my case. Usually if something gets in the way of what or when I wanted my RM. And it didn't feel so much like physical hunger, more like a driving need. My poor kids got in my way a couple of times but now they know when I have that look in my eye.

I haven't really done anything to remedy this, because like I say, it is only once in a while for me. But I definately think trying a small protein snack would work. An ounce of cheese or small piece of meat would give your body something to do while you get your RM ready. It is worth a try anyway, and it's allowed on CAD.

I think you might be right about the "fix" theory. I have thought that too.

Good luck.. CAD is great if you can get that little wrinkle ironed out

Tracy

Steve,

How long is it between your lunch & dinner? It could be that the time is too long. Did you have this crazy feeling the whole time you were on cad before? Do you have it every day now? Maybe if you did a journal for a few days menus our collective minds could decipher a pattern.

Welcome to the group!

Lila

Steve, just a thought but perhaps you're really that super sensitive to carbs that by the time that 24 hour period starts to wind up, you're having a major carb attack.

I also find the timing of my meals to be a challenge. If I eat at 6:00 pm, I find that around 1:00 a.m. I'm ready to eat again. Where most normal folks would be in bed, I wait up from my husband to come home from work around 12:00.. spend an hour with him and TRY to go to bed without eating... after all, it's been 7 hours since RM time!!

Default RM crazies

Thanks for all of your imput!

It's 1 hour after my RM and I'm happier than a clam...yes I have a real weird schedule myself, I work swing shift. I get up at 9:00 and have breakfast, have lunch before work at 1:00 and have my RM at 4:00 pm...then I go to bed at 1:00...that's 9 hours after my RM. oddly enough though, even 9 hours after I have no cravings whatsoever!

But at 3:00 right before the RM, watch out, i'm wired!

Oddly enough, I find that if I eat less at my CMs or cut the lunch out all together I'm not as crazy before my RM!!!

If you can figure THAT one out, your a smarter goose than I!!

See ya!

Steve

Check the list of CM veggies and take note of what you're eating. Some foods can set off cravings. You might be reacting to something. Also diet sodas can do it too.

Thumbs up Come to think of it...

Zuleika-

Sometimes I buy one of those ready to go roasted chickens at safeway, I'll eat a quarter of one and some celery with cream cheese...maybe they use sugar or msg in the marinade or whatever?

Think I'll stick to roasting my own chicken breasts in the oven...see what happens.

Maybe it's best to think in a Paleo way(no additives, processing etc.) about my CMs (minus the nuts and fruit of course).

We shall see!

The data first...

Weigh in at 263.

Breakfast: 1/2 pound cube steak fried in extra virgin olive oil and asparagus steamed, with the remaining oil from the cube steak slathered on top!

Lunch(RM): Teriyaki Chicken/Beef Combo with salad and rice

Dinner: Chicken Breast with pan fried brussel sprouts and butter.

Lots of club soda.

Feeling pretty good so far, but it's still 3 hours until my RM! will report on how I feel tomorrow.

My body is mutating still so it's too early to tell I suppose.
