Hi Pearlgirl,
This has been a slow thread maybe we can get it going again. Don't worry about your age I am 62 and still plugging away. I was on Atkins lost weight then like you thought I could cheat it doesn't work at least not for me.
South Beach is easier for me to handle the weight lost is slow but if I go off there is no large weight gain.
Good Luck, Pat S.

ya know after doing this for a while i notice a trend with my weight loss now. everytime i lose weight i gain it back again the next week and then some. then i lose that weight and even more...so don't get discouraged if you gaina little here and there because it usually means you going to lose even more shortly. at least that's how it is with me.

Jon

Don't compare your weight loss with others. Everyone has their own numbers, I suggest while you are sticking to the plan you are on, weigh yourself and record it (Don't put any emotions to it, think of it as research) You will see when your body naturally gains and losses, People tend to lose 5% a month of the total weight they need to lose. But others, such as myself, may loss 15% one month and 0% the next. Its all normal.

Great Thread by the way

I am completely new to the whole low carb thing, but I notice with any diet my weight seems to plateau every now and then, I think your body needs time to adjust to the changes for a little while before it makes more.

AMEN!

There are very few real stalls and it's so sad to see many people get discouraged just because their bodies do not follow an 'agenda'. Give your body a chance to adjust.........

Default wow..you all are great!

I'm so new to this that I havent yet started...wanted to get all the info I could and educate myself before actually starting. This site was a true God send. I've been so depressed about my 50 lb weight gain..The first time in 37 years that I have ever had to worry about weight... I've been holding on to all my old clothes in hopes that I could get this weight off... about to give up on the whole thing until I found this place..Thanks for all your kindness and helpful hints...Renee

...one of my major achivements, getting into all those old clothes again. Sadly most of them are out of fashion by now...

But who gives a dang... Trousers still work.

Go, Renee!! You'll get there! (Well, actually, we're the same height, so 128 hmm... are you especially thinboned? I'm at 136:ish and really fine right now... )

[FONT=Tahoma][COLOR=Blue] Wow 2 months and such great advise
I have hit the 5 week period and have lost 10lbs. I only have 10 more to go could that be why its coming off slow?
I exercise 6 days a week--Tae Bo, jogging and weight training.
This last week I did have a glass of wine or two on Friday/Saturday night.
I love this forum it helps so much

Dandawn - congrats on your progress and welcome to the forum!

I think you're doing everything right and those last pounds will come off - but it's true that it takes time. On the other hand - you can see it's working and I hope you feel great too!

All the best!

Alina

I have started again but this time is really different can't figure it out. I have done induction at least 1/2 dozen times had a heck of a time losing weight always went right into ketosis no problem. This time slight ketosis lost 6 pounds the first week and have the bennifit of lose of appetite and cravings.
I am not complaining but just confused.
