Yeah Renee, jumping is a lot of fun but I keep it pretty low for now. I need more practice jumping high over water, less chance of injury but it does feel cool dangling from the kite

and more snow Saturday we got to ride on downhill before rigging kites and finishing the day. So fun on our little hill finding loose snow on the edge of the trails and taking advantage of some spots the groomers left alone.

Pano of good session last weekend then the next day it turned to mush…

I was able to get off the lake and get some snowboarding in at local hill before the rain on Sunday, whhoooo haaaaa! Link to movie below:

http://downhaul.com/kites/180304goo...Session-web.mp4

Ice was very blue on this lake, I'm starting to wonder if it's a good idea to be driving out still

At the end of month I was reviewing some of the carb overload experimental data and ran across this wedge. It’s interesting to see how my body handles water in reaction to carb overload and water fasting. I’m not saying either is good, just interesting. In the span of 72 hrs my scale weight changed 26 lbs. I think that's more than my weight change after the first month of low carbing back in 2015. Wow.

And some old snowpants finally have failed in the butt cheeks. I guess my right cheek takes more abuse than the left, maybe I should have turned the other cheek once and a while

Columbia will replace zipper failure but not Butt Blow-outs! New pair of Burton tall 2XL on the way - fat pants are back in!

Hiya Meme, well in the intervening time between last post I managed to -

a) blow out the other butt cheek
b) get some new snowpants
c) fail 2 times at "pond skipping" at the local ski hill - we'll the second time my body did make it all the way out of the pond and onto the other shore - ouch!
d) Make a bunch more videos
e) have a generally great time with end of season activities on the snow

I think I'm the only one in my bunch that doesn't want the snow and ice to go away, it provides frictionless kite riding, the only thing better is clean ice and skates, that is like living in a dream ...

Any how, tally for this month so far is 14 session out of 20 days, sick two of those beginning of month. Last Friday I skipped work and headed out with a friend to get our "last session of the year" yeah right... it's never the last one till it's water, then it's a new season ha! So the video below is a little long but you get to see from a distance how relaxing and fun it can be out there, it's like dancing with your favorite gal for hours on end - well kind of like it anyway

Link to movie below, skip to middle for kiting, first part was requested by someone for how I rig this particular kite..

http://downhaul.com/kites/20180315M...Day2018-web.mp4

And here's a picture a friend who was up in Canada posted a few days ago, I guess the only thing better than iceskate kiting is powder riding, Only one day this year we had that in our state, here's a picture of him - camera is attached to kite lines - I think the picture really evokes the feeling of joy and freedom kiting on the snow brings, at least for me...

NOTE: time to concentrate on loosing a bit of weight for the upcoming water season where weight DOES make a difference in the ability for certain boards to float you and foils to fly you. Not sure if I'll use fasting or what just yet.

Still might get out a few more times in the snow this weekend "up north" - had a really cool couple of days last weekend. Thought I saw a wolf a mile or two from shore running along, kind of shadowing me but it was probably a coyote out scavenging. It was wired how it would stay exactly the same distance from me when I tried to approach it. Then after doing that I thought at some point it might decide it was time to fight or fein an attack - I wasn't in a good possition to defend myself with a kite in one hand, a camera in the other and a snowboard attached to my feet. Was fun time tho!

Movie here:

http://downhaul.com/kites/180325mil...lleWolf-web.mp4

Best still I could come up with from the movie. Graining, like BIGFOOT grainy!

Had the GPS on for a run up the Rainbow Island - had a good session up there with some folks that were kiting from the bay south of where we launched. It's a BIG lake!

Tracking since last post I posted tracking in. Concentrating more on loosing some weight for water season the last week or so. Dr. Appointment w/Labs (mostly for liver stuff) Friday morning. Not sure if they'll do Lipids - might need to wait till physical that I need to schedule.

This has been an awesome month for activity compared to last year. Condition were right for it plus I have a season pass at ski hill which I didn't last year.

Hey Renee, great to hear from you and hope you and yours are doing well. Sorry about he snow, my prayer was answered Getting more sessions in this year than ever. I did injure myself last Saturday - got launched toeside and landed on my head (helmet) and left side at the same time. My left arm was tucked into my body/shoulder preparing for touchdown and I think my fist under my ribs cracked or bruised some ribs. Thought I broke my collar bone at first but after I laid in the snow for a minute and was able to breath again I could move my arm over my head so I kept going.

Luckily the injury doesn't affect kiting too much - that's mostly abs, legs and back. It hurts most if I don't move for a while. So I move. The day we got the big dump I had a 4 hour kite session on Lake Waconia. It was crazy, snowed the whole time. At times all I could see was white, my kite and my snowboard. eerie.

A little video of conditions at end of session and saying "F~#$ Crizzazy!"

http://downhaul.com/kites/180403mis...iaApril-web.mp4

A few days before near the same spot it was really interesting. Snow was hard and bout and inch and a half completely stuck to the ice so carving great long lines was sooooo fuuuuunnnn! Heading out today to see whatsup, not enough wind to kite yesterday.

And looking toward water season, the new SUP/Foil/Windsurf board is done. My friend is getting ready to put the deck pad in and ship. Should have it before the ice is off the water. Super timing!!

And, I think I mentioned elsewhere, that's I'm going to focus on some weight loss this month. Interesting to note that eating has been really good (going to do more ADF-ing t his month) but weight is up since injury. I suspect I'll see fairly rapid results after recovery. I'd like to see ~210 by EOM but I have little control of that outcome other than being mindful of WHAT and WHEN I eat. The new board is 139 Liters so there's not a lot of wiggle room to keep it floating with rig and wet/dry suit etc. In this case, lighter rider, earlier flying on the Hydrofoil.

You and my dog may be the only ones enjoying the snow. She snow bathes the way other people sunbathe. She is 14 with a bad hip but was frolicking around until she wore herself out. Then spent the rest of day in the snow pile on the deck.

Bummer about the injury. Glad to hear that it doesn’t sound serious. I’ve learned the hard way just to go with the fall. Don’t fight it and keep my head up.

Enjoy your snow. More on the way Sunday, but I’ll be (fingers crossed)headed to the Dominican Republic on Monday. Have fun and stay safe!

Ha Renee! "...spent the rest of day in the snow pile on the deck" I take after that dog for sure. Snow and ice continue as does riding almost every damn day. It's pretty crazy for sure and we'll hope for a quick change into the wet season and Foil Boarding!!! Speaking of which, the new one is getting ready to ship - using these fins for windsurf/sup/surf

here's the updates to Ketones, NetCarbs and weight since last update. I think I might hit 210 lbs by EOM - that would be a good place to start the summer

Oh Heavens NO! Thanks for Checking in Meme! I was out all weekend in it. JOY JOY. Heading back out today for a session. It's really beautiful and sunny today. This weekend was bleak and really really windy but SOO FUUNN - I do feel bad for all the people that want spring but if you just can accept what the world gives you, no matter what, you can be happy. Asking for what the world can not give you causes suffering. There is a choice; Suffer or Not Suffer!

Ready to Shovel!

Ready to Play!

Very windy on Satruday - Lucky I didn't have to poop!

Would you please stop doing the Heikki Lunta snow dance
You get all the fun and I got stranded in Chicago. Glad to read you are out enjoying it. It is beautiful sunny day and 50 is right around the corner so bye-bye snow.

I didn’t see any kiters in DR (just paragliders). I can see why they would love it though. Lots of breeze and waves on the Atlantic ocean. Beautiful 80 during the day and 77 at night.

Renee, glad you got some sun and fun - sorry you got stranded in Chicago Welcome home, spring is on deck - be here before you know it.

WARNING: Exercise doesn't create weight loss! 5.5 hours of kiteboarding yesterday and I'm only down a few pounds. I attribute that mostly to colonoscopy prep and fasting for it haha! Too many variables. Activity/Exercise should be part of a balance life, not like the one I lead that is primarily focused in it - that and eating
