Default Thud's Funhog Log (365 days)

I thought it would be kind of fun to document what I call "exercise" or "working out" for one year. To me, exercise is having fun doing something physical. Training is practicing (something specific physical or mental) to have more fun while I'm having fun and perhaps avoid injury.

I thought it also be a good way to expand on explanation of activity and intensity of log entries I make here http://downhaul.com/lowcarb/daily.txt Perhaps this might be useful for anyone exploring fun new things to do with your changing body. Mine is changing, that's for sure.

If you have any questions about anything you see here, let me know and I'll be happy to share or answer specific questions.

====

So to start off the winter season after a lay off of about 10 days of no funhogging we found some fresh ice (about 4 inches of black, clear ice) to ride on. The folks that fly around in the DN class iceboats are the ones to follow - they know their ice conditions!

So for me it was lazy kiteskating for about 4 hours on a bluebird day. The activity is fairly gentle but doing it for so long produced very SORE body the next day and today (we were out there on Saturday)

Some pictures...

Little movie made holding iphone. brrr...

That was so fun to watch Thud!!
Felt like I was on the board with you...

Thanks for the visit Meme. Ya, we take out boards a bit later when there is more snow on the ice - skis and snowboards. For now ice skates are the ticket!

... and Sunday we got to go snowboarding for the first time this season. Funny how there's only about 2 weeks of No Windsurfing right to kiteskating and snowboarding. Use what the conditions provide and ride! - didn't even hurt myself first time out, only my ego

Yes it is man-made. They concentrate on making one useable run if the temps are cold enough early. Usually they will be open Thanksgiving like this so it's a bit early I'm lucky this year I guess.

Looks like they will be open again this weekend from about noon to 6PM if conditions remain as predicted, which is rare around here

I thought this was kind of interesting. My scale weight was way up a day after beating myself up on the ice and snow - last 3 days I've been extremely sore all over from the beating but this morning the soreness has pretty much disappeared and so has perhaps the fluids in my that were doing what ever they do to make my body un-sore again.

Don't worry about weight change after a beating, drink all the water your body tells you to thru thirst.

Looks like fun! It’s interesting to me how quickly your weight came back down after exercising. I’m going to enjoy all your pix and videos on this thread. Thanks for posting.

Hi Tess, I was pointing out that my weight went way up after exercising for some reason. It came down after relaxing for a few days at work

...

It was higher at the beginning of this month because of the experimenting on myself with carbohydrate last month

Back from kiteskating yesterday. Was glorious 4 hour continuous session, only decoupled from the kite once to grab my phone and take a little video of my buddy on his snowboard and something called a switchblade - kind of like and iceskateblade attached tot he rail of a snowboard. I was simply using ice skates - so much learning happened yesterday - high speed tacks are almost there.

Movie below that was made from cell phone then a bunch of effects in iMovie

Weight prediction correct! I buy a gallon of water for the ride home (2hr) and drink half, more thirst at home so I'm guessing I probably, along with coffee, drank nearly 2 gallons of water yesterday. We'll see if what happened post last weekend happens again. looking down in the shower today I'd say my stomach is as flat as it's been since I started low carb eating over 2 years ago! Weird!

Love the video Thud!
It looks so fun...
So you gained a couple of lbs in water weight? Maybe it went into your muscles and it will be gone by tomorrow.
It looks so beautiful there. Nice and quiet I'll bet!

Hi Meme, yeah water is good for putting on weight. Water is your friend Heels both on the inside and the outside.

I stumbled across another person that is interested in the kind of sailing I'm exploring. He lives out East and I believe this is on Lake Erie - We both ride on the Go Foil Maliko and somehow I found his site where he's posted some videos and pictures. Makes his own boards too! Hope to get to meet and ride with him some day but here's what Windsurf Foiling looks like that I love doing...I'll have to wait till the water gets soft again around here tho
