Thank You - One & ALL!!!

I managed to lose another pound today and to lose my BMI OBESE label in the process!!! I really hated that word!!! Of course, I started this diet 'morbidly obese' and could barely walk to the end of my driveway without severe pain. I was headed for an early grave. It looked so hopeless I was a hundred++ pounds overweight and knew losing them was going to be a tremendous challenge, especially being unable to do any meaningful exercise. After I decided to put an end to my self-pity parties and get serious, I began this somewhat obsessed journey to try and find my way back to ONEderland. Still have a ways to go but it looks so much closer now. It can be done and it is much easier on a LC or vLC diet than trying to do it on the USDA approved 'healthy' diet provided by the nutritionist my doctor sent me to. Best wishes to the newbee's - Good Luck!

I'm verrrry happy! BUT, I'd like to lose a bit more, not sure how much. I'm going to try to be a lot less obsessed about it though. Had a whole oz. of Emerald cocoa roasted almonds(dark chocolate flavor) for lunch... Label says 6g carb 3g fiber 1g sugar 6g protein & 150kcals/oz -- sounds better than those artificially sweetened atkins' products that seem to stall my wt loss. Taste better too.

Congrats...that's awesome! I am now just 5 lbs over my "normal" weight range, but can see that when I get there that I will want to continue to lose, so I understand your desire to keep losing.

But wow...losing 125 lbs in 7 months is incredible! Did you stay on induction the whole time? Again congrats!

More like induction on steroids. NO drugs, but my LC diet is even more restrictive than induction. A thousand kcals per day avg and less than 20g of total carbs. No sugar/starch/grains. Also I found avoiding artificial sweeteners helpful. Drink only water, lots of water!!! I ate a very small amount of fruit/cheese/nuts, which I'm currently doubling now that I've reached goal! I used the calculator below to make sure I got the required protein and I avg about 57%fat/35%prot/8%carb...

Unfortunately since I chose to lose at such a low calorie level, I'll probably also need to maintain at a relatively low level too. This isn't all bad, since I'll need less food and should live longer according to some longevity studies. I just won't be getting my money's worth at the all u can eat buffets... Haven't been to one of those for a while!!!

I love success stories! I'm glad I clicked over here on a whim.

Congratulations! I'm sure the best part is the good health and activity that are available to you now and into the future--a longer future.

Thanks especially for the link to the Ruhl Calculator. This is very helpful to me. Although I've been low-carb for a long time, I continue to wrestle with the details of maintenance, including (right now) recovery from serious wanderings off the LC Path. See you soon at the Maintenance weigh-in, I hope.

Best wishes.
