Thank you. I appreciate the kind words and support.

So I went for a second opinion. The doc was recommended on the thyroidless yahoo group. He agreed that I probably need to have at least a partial thyroid removal. He did some more blood tests, but not all the ones I was hoping for. He confirmed the other doc's diagnosis of Hashi's and wants to send me on to a specialist. We'll probably just stick with the original doc that diagnosed me.

Test results:

TSH 2.77 (.40-4.50)
T4, Free 1.1 (.8-1.8)
T3, Free 2.4 (2.3-4.2)
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 449 (<35)

He did not do the Reverse T3 or the other antibody test.

Hey Freckles

It's okay that you didn't get both antibodies tested. If one is positive, then that is enough to diagnose Hashimotos. People really only need both if one is negative. Your T4 looks okay, but your T3 is awful, which is not surprising. T3 is the active thyroid hormone, so no wonder you have been tired and not yourself over the past few months.

I'm gonna go read your journal now!
