The only soy I have is Clearspring Organic Tamari Soya Sauce. No other soy products darken my cupboards.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those. I've them twice since starting Atkins five weeks ago. Ironically, I've only used them pureed in my food processor to make a hot cereal, not as actual noodles.

I don't think the shirataki noodles are made from soy. They're traditionally made from a yam root. Miracle Noodle in particular advertises the soy-lessness of their noodles.

There are two types. One is made from tofu and yam fiber stuff the other from only the yam fiber. I prefer the taste of the ones made with tofu. There are only 40 cals and 2 net carbs per bag. And a bag is a fairly large serving.

Ahh learned something new! The Japanese grocer nearby only sells the yam version that's "carb free" (I think it has half a gram per serving?). Never seen the tofu ones.

Try to avoid soy as much as possible - especially being hypothyroid - but do know the salad dressing I use contains soy. To my knowledge, this is the greatest exposure I have...

Soy just doesn't strike me as food-like. I find it yucky. I like the taste of most of the other peas and beans.

I have eaten Edamame - actually found that quite good, but now it scares me a bit having read so much on it. Of course now most salad dressings are made with soy oil.. so much soy oil is invading even low carb foods.

I'm going to start making all my own dressings so I am not exposed to the soy oil. That worries me. I don't eat soy in other forms.

The tofu-shirataki noodles are the only ones in my small northern remote town. So yes, I have them. And I have soy sauce on occasion... but that's it. I have the noodles maybe twice a month? (Sorry, I miss pasta SO MUCH)

Every store around here only seems to carry the tofu version, which frustrated me as I won't touch tofu or other soy products (other than an occasional splash of soy sauce). But I finally found the soy-free shiritake noodles tucked into a dark little corner of my local health food store (as opposed to the tofu-containing ones that had a prominent display!). And now I buy them there. I like them a lot! I can't compare the taste with the tofu ones as I won't eat the tofu ones.

I'd rather have high-carb gluten-free (not soy ingredients though) pasta than fake pasta using tofu. Measuring the lesser of the evils and the better of the taste/result...

We have soy sauce sometimes as part of stir-fry. That's it. Reading about soy particularly if you're a man is like reading about mad cow syndrome. You wish you never had. But it certainly cures you of wanting to eat anything you seriously suspect puts you at risk. I read once that chuck burger was less likely to be at issue with the burger than plain and never ate anything else since.

It's super easy to make your own mayo, and mayo and sour cream can let you make your own creamy dressings (which although homemade mayo doesn't taste like the crappy jar stuff we learned to like, with the spices and other dressing stuff it's fine) to get away from the soy in that.
