Forgot to turn on MapMyWalk today. Walked, I'd say, close to an hour trying to retrace my steps to some wildflowers I saw a month+ ago. I wanted to try to get seeds. But when I got close to the area where the flowers had been, there were 2' tall weeds everywhere. The path was very narrowed by the weeds; I decided I didn't want to risk a rattlesnake bite so I turned and went back.

Thanks. But really, with 2 jobs...you are doing a LOT more than I am!

I walked today for about 45 minutes. Kinda impromptu, wandering through an area near where I lived in the 1990's. Didn't think to turn on Map My Walk. Oh well. Tomorrow.

This is my 3rd day in a row walking but day #1, I must have hit something when I put my phone in my back pocket....Map My Walk said I had an 8 second workout. Yesterday, I paused my workout to go into a store and forgot to turn it back on. They were the same walk I took today, just no stats.

My research into cancer, supplements, and general health stuff while I was at my friend's can be summed up as follows: exercise is currently weighted more in favor of long term good health than any of the types of diets....low carb, low fat, calorie counting, Mediterranean, etc. This is not only for physical health but also for cognitive decline! Woot! My new goal is to walk in the morning like our friend Ken.

5/28

2.02 miles
39.26 minutes - includes stops to answer texts about 10 times
Average pace 24.53
4.6K steps
219 calories

I started Map My Walk and carefully put my phone in my jacket pocket. Walked for 41 minutes.

Map My Walk says:

5/31

.02 miles

Average pace 19.08

Who wants me on their walking team?? 44 steps in one session!!

I thought it was related to my back injury of '11 and keep thinking I need to make an appointment with the neurologist again.

Well...maybe not! The last 3 days I have done hamstring and piriformis stretches as soon as I wake up, and before my morning walks. Result: no, or little, pain for the last 3 days!

Forgot to do them this morning (very little pain when I awoke) and about 50 steps into my walk OWWW OWWW OWWW! Sharp pains that caused my gait to buckle again.

I stopped right there on the sidewalk and did the stretches - the rest of my walk was PAIN FREE.

*feeling encouraged and inspired*

Noting here that my pace before the pain started was usually around 19-20 minutes per mile, sometimes 22 if I took a phone call. The last 8 weeks I have switched to walking early, so no phone calls, but I have been at 24+. It just hurts too much to go faster.

The day before yesterday (with stretches) I hit 19 minutes per mile again, and this morning I was so encouraged, I pushed a little harder and was 18.62. Woo hoo!

Paula that is encouraging! Good for you - I am glad there is a solution for that.
