Hi all,
I get my computer fixed than I forget to use it since it has been so long! I am still sticking to plan. The scales finally moved today. I am down three pounds. I don't know why they didn't move for three weeks other than I wasn't doing the salad thing.

Yesterday my daughter, son and his friends took me dirt bike/quad riding. We had a blast! I am so glad that I got the quad. I am also so very thankful that I have teenage children who enjoy spending time with their parents! Their friends are also awesome, and encourage me to go along. I thank God the most for finally having energy and feeling like I can do these things.

After we went riding we went to the state fair and walked around. I still can't believe that I can be on a "diet" and eat a blooming onion and ice cream, and actually lose weight. I am really enjoying this new life!!

Eno - Did the wedding happen yet? Love to hear the details!

zarrabelle - Congrats on the weight loss! Isn't it fun to watch the scale move in the right direction!!

jem - Are you feeling any better?

lilee - thanks for sharing about the graph. I want to look into that, I think it would be fun to watch.

Teri - How do you get to your webpage? I clicked on the link, but I didn't know where to go from there.

I still find it amazing to go through stress and not even be tempted to empty out the cupboards and fridge into my belly. I just found out that they think my moms lung cancer is back. She also hasn't been eating much and is down to about 95 pounds. I sure wish I could share some of my weight with her! She will have a scan Friday and get the results the following week.

Hope everyone is doing well. It seems quiet on here since I have returned.

Hello everyone,

Zarabelle, congratulations! Is averaging your weight suggested in the CAD book like it is in the CALP book? You are doing a wonderful job of losing the pounds and I hope you continue to enjoy following your program!

jem51, I hope that you are feeling better. Now that you have reached your goal, I hope that you become comfortable in the maintenance phase of your program. Well wishes coming your way!

Lileee, I hope you continue to keep us informed with the information you find. Good luck following your program and I hope you decide to share more of what you are doing.

ican4Him, congratulations! I am glad you had a great time with your kids and their friends. Doesn't hanging around them make you feel young and playful? The days are making me older but I hope to remain in the right state of mind to forever feel young and energetic! Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I fixed the link so it will take you to the main page where I hope it is easier to follow. I have had my share of dealing with stress over the health conditions of others and found comfort in knowing that I was the only thing that I could control. I am sorry to hear about your mom and sincerely hope the results are not as bad as they can be. Be strong and try and make your life the best it can possibly be!

I forgot to pop in here yesterday so I have two days I will be posting!

Saturday, 8.29.09

Menu
CM: 2 cups of black coffee
CM: Pork chop and green beans w/vinaigrette
RM: Salad of romaine w/vinaigrette, french dip sandwich on sourdough roll w/au jus, cucumber, and aspirin

Water
120 oz.

Option #1
GTF Chromium

Option #2
Day Off!

The aspirin was added to my RM because I slept wrong the night before and had a sore back/neck area.

My sore back/neck was not the reason I postponed my bowflex. The bowflex was postponed because we didn't get a chance to get it done until later in the evening and my husband didn't feel like doing it. It was very easy to make Saturday our day off since we both knew that we could make it up on Sunday without messing up our schedule.

Sunday, 8.30.09

Menu
CM: 2 cups of black coffee
CM: Pork chop and cabbage salad w/mayo
RM: Salad of romaine w/vinaigrette, chicken in mushroom sauces, cucumber, and Death by Chocolate ice cream

Water
100 oz.

Option #1
GTF Chromium

Option #2
Bowflex, 20 Minute Better Body Workout, 2 sets
120# Bench Press
120# Seated Lat Rows
120# Crossover Rear Deltoid Rows
120# Biceps Curl
120# Triceps Pushdown
120# Leg Extension
120# Standing Low Back Extension
150# Seated Abdominal Crunch

i have to admit that most of my rm are not very carby.
the fact is that i love most of the lc alternatives way more than i ever did the starch.
zucchini in place of pasta
cauli instead of potatoes
i made clam chowder w turnips and it was so much more tasty!!
those are just a few examples.
so my big deal is bread and that can't be just any bread...i love lettuce wraps and would prefer them over bad bread. i love lettuce wrapped burgers and feel that those awful buns take away from the taste of the main ingredient.

still there's a lot of stress relief surrounding eating away from home....not necessarily at restaurants because i can eat lc anywhere; but a gatherings and friends houses, etc. no worry about ingredients.
and really eating sandwiches for dinner has changed my life!!

i love CAD/CALP even w my minimal carbs!!

Hi everyone, thanks for your encouragement xx

Hoppin - yes, in the CAD book it suggests averaging weight. I wasn't convinced at first as thought it was fueling my scale addiction but now I see it makes total sense and actually stops me from fretting over little fluctuations.

Have a great day everyone xx

hi-
thanks for saying hi, guys! It is not like me to miss a day (or 2!)- but BUSY!!!

The wedding is Sunday- at my house- so I am in the calm before the storm. Both the 'kids' are with their respective friends for the next couple of days. The future inlaws arrive tomorrow- and then the guests pile in. FUN!

I am on plan.
Today
cm:2 eggs, 2 turkey bacon, cheese, coffee
cm:leftover burger, cucumbers, green tea
rm:salad, grilled chicken breast, slaw, 1/2 peach, 1/2 bagel with cream cheese, water

I butterfly the chicken breast so it is thinner on the grill- lots of restaurants do this- and I like it so much better.

I am cleaning out the fridge, but it is DH's birthday on Wednesday and we have a tradition of the birthday person picks dinner. He wants beef, corn bread, pasta salad, slaw, baked beans, grilled peaches and cake. and wine. I'll make it all and then freeze leftover meat and toss the rest by the weekend. We only have the one fridge and we need it!

We went for Mexican last night and I had chips as my carb- and 1/2 a beer. I ordered fajitas with no tortillas, no rice, no beans and no tomatoes- extra lettuce! I have half of the chicken left- it will be lunch tomorrow.

We are going to find the guys and buy them a pitcher of beer-

Morning All

All fine here. My weight has slightly risen in the last two days but I think it's because I have stepped up my exercise and am retaining water. I have stuck to plan so I am not going to worry about it. I will drink loads of water today and hopefully will be back down again tomorrow.

I am off to the gym again this morning. I am going to an aerotone - aerobics then toning - class. Yesterday was Bodypump then running then swimming with the kids and tomorrow will be Bodypump/run again. Thursday will prob be a day off and then RPM spinning on Friday - phew :-D

Have a great day everyone x

Evening everyone,
Thought I better post since I keep forgetting to. Ran around most of the day and ate a huge RM. I didn't really feel like eating anything after that. I am afraid the scale might be up tomorrow! It stayed the same today. I walked several miles.

CM -1/2 cucumber and a bite of cottage cheese
RM - small guacamole burger, 1/2 box of fries and an ice cream bar

Hope everyone else is doing great!!

hi-
this will rpobably be my last post until after the weding- but you never know!
Last night we had a nice quiet dinner- leftover salad, chicken, eggplant, and 1/2 bagel with tomato and onion, water. Oh- and a macademia nut cluster.

today is DH birthday, so RM is set. I had my usual CM and will have a chicken caesar salad for lunch.

I love seeing all the new faces- welcome! For me, the weight loss on these plans may be slower but they are livable plans for the long haul! And I feel so great eating this way- now in year 7! For those of your doing CAD or CALP- please reread the info on RMs. In both books there are supposed to be veggies with the RM (and they do talk about balance in CAD but it is not emphasized like in CALP and CAHHP), and in CALP there is a salad and veggies- or lots of veggies. I'd hate to see anyone get frustrated- maybe just read the chapters again and see how you can tweek?

I am changing my stats today- goodbye 125 and hello 130! I have been very very stable at this weight for the whole summer now (since changing some medications), so I think it is my new normal. If it changes ....

later-
E

Eno-Enjoy the wedding and the busyness of this upcoming weekend! What an exciting time for your family.

Well, I got on the scale this morning and was actually down 2 pounds. I was surprised! I didn't lose for about three weeks and now it is coming off again. How exciting!

Hello everyone,

jem51, thanks for sharing with us how you are working the maintenance phase of your program. What weight loss program did you use to get to your goal?

Zara, if I were to weigh myself everyday I would also incorporate the weekly averaging into my program because of the fluctuations the scale has to offer. It sounds like you know what you are doing and I am sure the couple of pounds will disappear as fast as they arrived.

ican4Him, I am happy the scale is moving in the right direction for you!

Eno, my husband also butterflies chicken breasts whenever he makes them. I hope the wedding is everything you expect it to be and I hope you all have a great time. Happy birthday to your husband too. I am curious to know if your clothes are still fitting the same way they did before you began experiencing the five pound weight gain?

I switched my meals around yesterday because my husband wanted to go out to lunch. I had no problem eating my RM for lunch and did not experience any cravings.

I didn't have time to pop in here yesterday so I am including two days worth of meals!

Monday, 8.31.09

Menu
CM: 2 cups of black coffee
CM: Pork chop and green beans w/vinaigrette
RM: Salad of romaine w/avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, & ranch, and Hershey's w/almonds

Water
100 oz.

Option #1
GTF Chromium

Option #2
Leslie Sansone Walk at Home
3 Mile Weight Loss Walk...A "Power Walk" at Home!
Mile 1: 15 minutes of non-stop muscle moving steps to get you started
Mile 2: 12 minutes of speed walking
Mile 3: 15 minutes to continue blasting calories as you burn body fat
I completed all 3 miles!

Tuesday, 9.01.09

Menu
CM: 2 cups of black coffee
RM: (Restaurant) Chicken taco salad w/beans, guacamole, olives, & salsa, in a flour tortilla shell
CM: Rib steak and cucumber

Water
80 oz.

Option #1
GTF Chromium

Option #2
Bowflex, 20 Minute Better Body Workout, 2 sets
120# Bench Press
120# Seated Lat Rows
120# Crossover Rear Deltoid Rows
120# Biceps Curl

Hi everyone. I used to be on here a LOT a couple or so years back...and I see some familiar faces. I have been re-reading my journal (it is wonderful that it never got erased) and I feel that I am getting ready to try CAD again.
Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone,

Vel, welcome back!

I tried switching my RM and CM's again but it did not work out as well as it did the first day.

The salad I had for lunch was no different than what I have had in the past but I added some chocolate to my meal and experienced hunger in the afternoon. Since I do not like to feel hungry, I chose to switch back.

Wednesday, 9.02.09

Menu
CM: 2 cups of black coffee
RM: Salad of romaine w/avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, sauteed shrimp, & ranch, and Hershey's w/almonds
CM: Rib steak and cucumber

Water
80 oz.

Option #1
GTF Chromium

Option #2
Leslie Sansone Walk at Home, Walk Away Your Waistline!
3 Mile Walk with 1, 2 & 3 Mile Markers Featuring the Walk Belt!
Mile 1: 15 minutes
Mile 2: 15 minutes
Mile 3: 15 minutes
I completed all 3 miles w/the walk belt!

Hi Hoppinn

I think it's nice to save the RM for the evening. It gives you something to look forward to :-D Having said that, if I need to go out socialising at lunchtime, I would change it - very occassionally.

Menu today
BF - s/f caramel cappuccino
L - chicken breast with big slice of onion, two mushrooms, garlic powder and cream cheese melted to make sauce. Served with sauteed cabbage. - I was so hungry after a gruelling spinning class this morning!
D - probably fish, chips and peas - made at home in oven - and wine as it's a Friday :-D

I have a party to go to tomorrow night. It could be a challenge as I don't know if they are serving food or not. I am definitely sticking to plan and only eating/drinking during a one hour period.

Take care guys, Zx

Hey there, I thought I posted a hello yesterday, but I don't see it, so here I am again.
I am back after a couple years break, during which I unfortunately gained back a good chunk of the 110 lbs I lost following CAD from 2002-2005 (roughly). I am a firm believer in CAD, as it was the ONLY diet I ever had any success on for more than a week or so. I never did well at balancing my reward meals and I think that led to my downfall. I am starting again, with good intentions to try harder for balance. I have been re-reading my journal (thanks for keeping it online, that was a surprise!).
Look forward to getting to know new folks and reconnecting with a few of the old-timers

**** right after posting, I saw my post from yesterday, sorry!****
