Hey everyone. I am now home. I have posted my birth story in my Live Journal.

Thank you for your well wishes. Katala was stubborn to the end and refused to turn. As the story says, we attempted breech delivery (well even if I had chosen not to she would have made me try, I was 6cm dilated before I even realised I was in labour - I thought I was having pre-labour contractions) but the labour stalled so I ended up having to have an emergency c-section.

I swear being on a Paleo diet was the only reason I survived the hospital (otherwise I would have been starving) and Tarlach did at great job of making sure I had enough snacks to avoid eating too much bad stuff. I also thank my diet for being able to move as well as I can so soon.

I am tandem feeding my 18 month and newborn which is an interesting experience, but love it. I have ample supply and I also have a lot more energy than people think I should have.

All and all, everything is as good as I could hope for.

Oh, Cograts again centa! I look forward to reading your birth story!

After 10+ hours of labour with my first and no dilation or effacement I had to have an emergency section as well. I attempted a VBAC with my DD the next year but ... no dilation no effacement. I ended up with 5 c-sections in 6 years. ::rollseyes::

But, still, I also got 5 beautiful babies, LOL!

I also tandem nursed several times. If you ever just want to chat w/ someone who has been there don't hesitate to PM me.

*runs off to read birth story*

GREAT birth story! Can't wait for pics. I also love your children's names! Unusual without being just weird (as is the fashion here - make something up or spell a perfectly good name in some bizarre fashion)

Mineralman,
I appreciate where you're coming from. You love her, you love your child, you want the best for them. You're a good guy. But...as a woman who has had food related control issues with boyfriends, unless you want her to be your ex-girlfriend/babymomma who's with some other guy, you'll drop it. Let her make her own choices, and don't say a word. If you want her to eat healthy food, prepare healthy foods, and offer it to her without any pressure. Don't get your feelings hurt if she doesn't like something you make. Make small portions until you figure out what nutritious things she likes, and then make those again, and keep the fridge well stocked. Her body will like nutritious food, so become an amazing chef and make it for her. Otherwise she'll eat crap, because it's easy, and comforting.
I drank raw milk through my last entire pregnancy and breastfeeding. It was just what my body wanted and I drank A LOT of it. And I'd do it again! I also followed a paleo + dairy + fruit diet all through preg. & brstfding. But that was all my choice. It had NOTHING to do with my husband. If it was my husband's choice, I would have been binging on crap whenever he wasn't around. You really don't want to create that sort of dynamic around food.
Do you have a crockpot? If not, buy one. It will make the house smell so good, she will be dying to try whatever you prepare. An organic chicken with some organic baby carrots and some water EZ PZ!. Spice it the way she likes it, and she won't even know it's paleo. The smells will seduce her into filling up on the good nutritious food. Seduction works better than suggestion when it comes to people and their food. 1,000,000 times more so when it comes to pregnant people and their food. When she pours a gallon sized bowl of sugar smacks cereal, and eats the whole thing, don't even lift an eyebrow. Go out into the kitchen and make a nice fruit salad, her body is craving carbs.
Be smart. Be silent. Be sneaky. Be seductive.
And above all, no judgement. Negative emotions like guilt and shame are much worse for the baby (and your relationship) than junk food.
I used to make homemade yogurt out of cream, strain it, and eat it with homemade applesauce warm from the crockpot. AMAZING!!! (and a sneaky way to get a probiotic in her)

Easier said than done, Paleogal! Just reading about it brings back flashbacks of when my wife was pregnant. We were both seriously traumatized by her constant nausea and my fruitless efforts to cook some food she wouldn't barf at. And she was TRYING to not eat crap!

Raw milk and raw milk cheeses very good but are high risk foods for pregnant women and fetuses due to potential listeria contamination can cause listeriosis. This is very serious it kills fetuses and it can actually kill both mother and child.

i was able to contact 13 mothers who switched over to raw milk prior to pregnancy. and not one had a problem.
