Not any cousin of mine thank you

Not me. I eat what's been provided to me by God. (but I do agree...we aren't similar)

I guess if you start with the assumption that we were around 3 million years ago...I don't.

Researchers are always looking for the smoking gun, the missing link, the panacea. The fact is that no matter how much we learn we will never understand the intangible nature of how the body works. There's the Sufi proverb where three men go into a darkened room for their first encounter with an elephant. One touches the elephant's back and thinks the elephant is like a temple. The other touches a leg and thinks the elephant must surely be like an oak, while the third fellow touches the trunk, and thinks the elephant is like a big snake. All those elements were right, but put together they did not make an elephant.

The empirical evidence of my own journey through LC is that I FEEL better. I was quite against eating large quantities of meat before and was a vegetarian for many years. As a vegetarian I caught 3 or 4 colds a year, some of them lasting for a month. Red meat was always the enemy. Even when I got back on meat I avoided eating red meat as much as possible. Even though I allowed myself to get fat, and ate my share of junk, I also ate a pretty balanced diet. I still gained weight, I still felt like crap. Long story short: Since starting LC I feel smarter, stronger, more energetic, and I've lost weight with ease. None of us are going to live forever, and I would take ten years of feeling like I do now over 20 of how I used to feel. No doubt, as in all things in life, balance is key. Except love, one can never have enough of that; with bacon coming a close second.

So scientific research to you is...what? Propaganda? A giant world-wide conspiracy to secularize the planet?

I was thinking this earlier today.

When I eat sugar and grains, I feel like shit. When I eat meat, eggs, fat and protein, I feel good.

How can you put a price on that?

Scientific research is essential - however, IMO food research tends to be sponsored by those with a vested interest - its the money and the food manufacturers tool for success!

Off topic, but when I was a kid, there was a boy in our class at school who had "sugar" diabetes and his food was restricted to essentially a low carb diet. I also remember it was known that sugar and sweets were bad for our teeth. Nowadays, the word sugar has been removed from diabetes and so many people have this desease, which is controlled by a low fat diet and medication. As for sugar rotting our teeth???? well, its fruit acid and fizzy pop that does that these days.

This suggests to me that either they've discovered that sugar wasnt bad - or that the sugfar industry has somehow managed to conxince the authorities that its not bad at all?????

Nah, got to remember when speaking of mutations and evolution.. Evolution only "cares" if a human makes it to about 35 or so. Past that is all accidental gravy, if a mutation causes a disease that kills most of its sufferers after their offspring have reached about 12 years of age or so, it will have no negative selection pressure, and will remain if chance propagation spreads it.

A gene that gives us more cancers has no evolutionary resistance to speak of until it starts routinely killing lots of 20 year olds.
