So, if something makes no sense and you have no solid proof, then it's an inborn metabolic error? Convenient.

Sound familiar?

Enjoy your fruit.

Unfortunate mutations don't last for millions of years. Mother Nature is quite the miser.

Hey guys, just a heads up, there's a Gary Taubes fan club page on Facebook now, made the first post my own-self! Not much on there yet, some funny cartoons, though.

OK, I'll buy that. 2.2 MYA. It's eight hundred thousand years short of what the first article incorrectly reported.

yes, of course. how could you come to any other conclusion with all of this hard evidence? i mean, just look at the how the inuit struggled for millions of years on their biologically incorrect meat diets and have finally been saved by the civilized modern correct human diet!

I also struggle to understand how they thrived on their pre modern civilization diet based on the science, research and “hard evidence” available today.

BTW, there was a Dr. George Leavitt who actively searched for cancer among the traditionally-living Inuit from 1885 to 1907. Along with his staff, he saw 50,000 Inuit a year for the first 15 years, and 25,000 a year thereafter. He did not find a single case of cancer.

The only thing that comes to mind is that fish have a low level of the wicked Neu5Gc molecule compared to red meat. Perhaps fish were the more significant part of their diet and the walrus, seal and caribou less significant?

Also, I assume their diet was low in carbs which means an increase in a protein called IGF-BP3 that blocks the action of IGF-1 which has been implicated in the cancer process.

I have difficulty comprehending everything.

Bo

Well, the first possibility that comes to mind; is the science, research and "hard evidence" is wrong.

I find it extremely difficult to reconcile the idea that meat is bad in any way with the experiences of Vilhjalmur Stefansson.

One is the personal account of a highly respected adventurer (among other professions) and the other is merely the hypothetical associations of a lab coat. Between the two, I'll take the personal account over the lab coat's ideas any day. After all, we can't refute facts, we can only refute ideas.

So, did donkeys diverge from horses? I don't believe apes would still be here if we are a product of evolution. And where did the Neanderthals go? (Yeah, I know that's what is taught, it just doesn't make sense to me.)

In the absence of carbs, fresh meat prevents any vitamin c deficiencies.

How Humans Make Up For An 'Inborn' Vitamin C Deficiency.

The study below appears to explain how humans get by with what some have called an "inborn metabolic error": an inability to produce vitamin C from glucose.

In essence, the red cells of animals that can't make vitamin C recycle what little they've got.

Right. And we require more vitamin c in the context of a high carb diet. It seems to me that since we need so much more of it eating a high carb diet, then the high carb diet must be causing oxidative stress.
