I'm afraid in my case you'd be looking at the result 1.5+ years of "optimal human diet" preceeded by many decades of eating the SAD. Though I'm certainly much healthier looking now than I was back then, I'm just not comfortable posting my pics on the interweb.

LOLOLOL

And Sandy, you know darn well that many people do perfectly fine on a near zero carb diet. While it isn't something I choose to do for myself, my experiment on zero carb did not harm me one bit. Based on evolution, the research of Gary Taubes, our favorite arctic explorer, etc... I think it is a perfectly healthy WOE. Comparing it to Kimkins is just silly.

EDITED TO ADD: We can never have too many pictures of Jeffs abs...so I demand more evidence!

I've seen enough abs but I think someone should demand butt and thigh shots as proof.

No I don't know Zilla, like you I believed in this carnivore BS, and joined the zero carb forums, and 99% of those people were suffering or started suffering from the problems I stated earlier, but here they are again:

Thyroid problems
Gout
Kinney stones
Hair falling out
Mouth ulcers (lack of vit C)
Ovarian Cysts (yes having only animal fat/protein will influence hormonal balances (estrogen) and cause ovarian cysts
Almost everyone on the forum has their weight stalled after an initial modest loss
Then quite a few suffered weight gains

And first of all YOU and Bowdey both suffered from loooooong weight stalls, in Bowdey's case she gained weight, and that's why you needed to come back into a conventional ketogenic diet to lose weight (add in some carbs)

As for me- yes zero carbs worked for the first month (lost about 8lbs in one moth) again followed by a long stall, and an instant 8lb gain the minute I put any plants in my mouth (and am talking about lettuce and cucumbers here)... no thanks, I prefer to be doing general low carb with lots of veggies and not have this instant weight gain every time I overdo the celery!!! I believe the ones who could be successful on thsi woe is the ones who often fell off the wagon, and carbed up (i.e. took diet breaks for their body to recover)

Please accept my apologies everyone, I don't mean to be personal with anyone here about this, am stating my opinion about carnivore woe - and I think my opinion is clear now Therefore, am not going to post any longer on this thread... its your health, not mine !

This is a very interesting topic. I have been somewhat low carb for my entire life and i believe i'm in optimal health. But I have never realized many people have followed an extreme low carb diet.

Probably not as many as you think. Some of us are just not quick to criticize what seems to work for others, so we stay quiet.

Wow, that's quite a sweeping generalization? It's tempting to make the same sort of silly counter statement about "general low carbers"; but I won't.
