But what would you say to the fact that people in the same household are subjected to the same surroundings. At some point it is the environment we live in too.

Consider this if you had done low carb throught your life would you still get diabetes type 2 just because you have the gene and what abt all the people who cure their diabetes t2 with changing the lifestyle or the environment.

I am not saying that there is no genetic factor what I am saying is that just because it is in the gene doesnt mean doom and gloom. You always have the chance to change the environment.

There has been so much of research into gene expression, environment can also dictate how a gene will be expressed and there are always multiple copies of the same gene.

Of course, you can change the outcome by changing the environment. That is what LCing is all about as far as diabetes is concerned. It's the most important thing you can do to prevent or reverse diabetes.

Diabetes doesn't have to equal doom and gloom either. I achieved all of my life goals while having diabetes. There isn't anything that I wanted to do that I wasn't able to do because I have diabetes.

Two things: genes and environment. No two people have exactly the same genes, especially if they're not related. And no one has exactly the same environment, even if they live together, their personal preferences for diet and exercise and other things also come into play.

Nope, don't think you would get the T2 diabetes unless you had some really exceptional genetic thing going on. Normally environment (diet) that keeps those genes from activating.

But you never really cure T2. You can treat it with meds and diet and the symptoms may go away but they'll come back if you stop eating the proper diet.

In order to disagree with Nancy LC, I have to say that it is statistically possible to have equivalent genes... However, the odds are not real good...

Since there's hardly ever 1 particular gene responsible for any particular trait, it is extremely small possibility!

There are, of course, identical twins but even they have genetic differences at the epigentic level, and that difference grows over time.

Stop baiting me!

Hehe... I did use the qualifier "statistically possible"

/smile

P.S. and even so-called "clones" can have significant differences...

Not bad for being self-taught on my first computer! I not only had to learn assembly but I had to assemble it myself into hex and poke it into memory.

Getting a basic interpreter was such a luxury!
