So has anyone tried the sulfate and not gotten results or did you just figure that it doesn't work because it isn't Berberine HCL? I am just curious because a few times you said that it doesn't work, but you just said that you have never tried it. Thank you guys for your help!
I also looked at some other threads on this forum and it said that berberine sulfate is the best for cholesterol. They didn't mention HCL. I am confused!! haha
From a pharmacological standpoint they should be very similar in response... but if anyone has any evidence otherwise I would like to know before making any purchases. Cajun I applaud your work!! WELL DONE!

I get the berberine hcl in China at a cost of about 50 cents a bottle, so I've not had any reason to buy in the USA the hcl or sulfate... I did read somewhere that the hcl was better, but can't remember where I read it... I'm not even sure what the difference is... I know the hcl produced results in just two days of use, so I'd suggest to buy one or two bottles of each and experiment. The cost, I'm sure is about the same for either.

I also used the berberine in conjunction with gymnema sylvestre which I did get through a company that sells d-care products. www.d-care.com and follow links from there and you'll see the gymnema I was taking... But, if I had to do without one or the other, I'd stick with the berberine...

I tried the sulfate and it didn't work for me but, because of
it's high price,I probably didn't take enough for it to be
effective.

My berberine hcl is tablets, not capsules. The tablets are bright yellow, as that is the natural color of berberine...

"how much did you take if you don't mind me asking and how long?"
What works well for Ron,if I am remembering correctly,is
500 mg three times a day.I only did 200 mg three times a
day for a week.Doing it the way Ron does would have been
very expensive.I think I got the Berberine/Goldenseal thru Amazon.

Ok good to know. My manufacturer told me that the berberine they were going to put in my tablets was berberine sulfate...... at 98% pure berberine (as opposed to golden seal, which is only 5% or less berberine). But after reading this I am going to try to get berberine HCl if possible. I will keep you guys posted.

a bottle of 100 pills, taken at a rate of 15 pills a day equals a 6 3/4 day supply. A month's supply is roughly 4 1/2 bottles. At a cost per bottle of $5, it would equal a montly cost of about $22.50...

http://www.shopsuigetsu.com/Huang_L...20lian%20su.htm

This website sells Berberine under the Chinese name. It is a pain to buy it this way, as you have 12 pills in 12 vials, much easier if you can use a bottle of 100. But, the price of $7.50 for 144 pills is a pretty good price. When I find the bottles of 100 for $5 a bottle, I'll post it...

buy 10 bottles or more and get bottles of 100 pills for $5 a bottle and this is as good as I could find on the internet...

http://www.opane.com/huanliansuta1.html

I had it posted in an earlier post and forgot I had posted it...

Good luck if anyone tries it. Again, from my experience, to start off with it, I'd use it at a rate of 3 months, then stop for a month before continuing again.

I used it for 5 months straight. I am on my 4th day of not taking anything and my FBG this morning was 92. My BG at 2 hours after breakfast was 110....

I'd still take the gymnema and the bitter melon and monitor for results and only adjust to keep getting the good results. I wouldn't worry about hypos if you are doing all herbal, but if mixing with metformin ER, keep an eye out for the hypos... You've got great numbers, so hopefully, it will work out for you....

I havn't had any hypo episodes since I replaced Glyburide
with Glipizide ER.I will evaluate replacing Glipizide with Berberine.
About bitter melon: For me,it works best if I pop 2 pills an
hour after each meal.
I guess we will know about Gustav's path today.
Good luck

Gustav's path is destruction...

It is still 3 or 4 hours away, but it looks like we'll get a direct hit, but so far, no bad rainfall... We received some reports from friends in the forward part of the eye and they said they didn't think it was that bad yet, and rain was lighter then expected...

We're hunkered down, sandbags at the door and all....

Ron
