I made my soup, and I loved it!!! I did about 2lbs of 80/20 because it is me and DH... for the Veg I used one Leek, One Shallot, some Garlic, and a box of chopped frozen spinach. I will admit, the butter throws me, but it was DELISH! I seasoned it really simply, and even DH asked for a bowl for work tommorow! This is great THANKS!!!

Okay, forgive me if these are stupid questions...but I'm not a dog breath soup connoisseur.

When you say 12 oz. of salad, do you mean dark, leafy greens or cabbage....OR, do you mean salad like...iceberg lettuce or ceasar salad mix in a bag? (I read the part about the 12 oz. salad can be any vegetable you want...I just want to know if you boil lettuce for your soup and how the heck does that taste?)

How do you think this recipe would turn out using beef broth/stock instead of the boullion cubes?

I am a soup addict so this appeals to me a lot. I am a bit skeptical on the lettuce though so I think I might try spinach. I am going to expierment some and see if I can come up with something as I need a change anyhow!

Wait are there carbs in the boullion? I have chicken stock in the house and boullion what should I use? I suppose I am trading carbs for sodium no matter what on this one huh! LOL

Herb-ox makes a sodium free/MSG free boullion. I get mine at the commissary, hard for me to find in standard grocery stores.

My DD made a DB soup out of a pork tenderloin bone-in chop with a few extra bones thrown in...& yumm-o!! Threw in some pre-made salad & it was great !!

Started dropping again once I used the No Sodium/MSG free boullion, down a # just this week & I'm nearing goal!!

Let me know some of your successes with the DB or any yummy modifications that you've used!! ~Cheryl Ann

Hi! Soup time is here again!

A Creamy soup request has brought me back here.

2 qts water & 8 boullion cubes
(or 2qts your choice of stock)
2# chopped broccoli(fresh or frozen)*
1 cup heavy whipping cream
4oz butter
4oz shredded cheese(Cheddar for broccoli, Mozz. or Mont. Jack for Mushroom)

Bring water to a boil & add bouillion cubes, stir 'til dissolved
OR
Bring 2 qts. of stock to a boil
-----------------------------------------------------
Add 4oz butter, stir until dissolved
Add chopped broccoli, bring back to boil for 15 minutes.
Turn down to simmer - cover for 30min.
Stir in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream slowly
Keep at simmer for 10 more minutes.
Ready to serve! (Salt to taste)

Dole into bowls & sprinkle shredded cheese on top
Stir in & enjoy!

Warm & satisfying - a good way to get your green carbs & fat in!

Hi Valentine - I was browsing for some tasty soup recipes and came across yours! This creamy soup sounds amazing does it taste similar to regular broccoli cheese soup (mmm SOOO good ) and would be so good on a cold night?

I was reading about the db soups and was wondering if this recipe puts you in ketosis as well or just the db?

Thanks,
Red

I made my first pot of DB soup! It was great!! I was surprised at how much I liked it, it sure didn't sound good at first! I did make a couple changes. I used a box of frozen spinich instead of the lettuce, a little more butter, and used 2 pounds of beef.

So, funny to run across this today. I was thinking of posting my recipe similar to this. It's basically the same thing except I call mine low carb chili.

1lb - 85% hamburger
4 - beef bouillon cubes
1 - 16oz pkg of shredded cabbage
1 - tsp black pepper
1 - tsp cayenne
3 - tbls chili powder
5 - cups of water

Basically in a 6qt pan brown hamburger. Drain fat add water and bouillon. Once the cubes are condensed add the rest of the ingredients. Simmer about 15-20 min.

I made this tonight with a pkg of Frozen Stirfry Vegys instead of the salad mix and added a package of Shirtaki Noodles. Major Winner and so low carb I even had a bowl as a snack, Great Reciepe. Thanks

I Love seeing people add & modify my DB soup recipe!
So many flavors, so simple & it is a great balance of the Fat/Protein/Carbs for losing weight on LC!

When I do a DB soup week, I always drop...just have to watch the MSG & salt. Herb-ox has a great MSG & Sodium free boullion.

Keep us posted on your great modifications & flavors & any weightloss success with the help of DB soup!

Thanks everyone! ~Cheryl Ann
