Okay great! I think I was thrown off by a reference to bacon fat not being okay, but now I realise that's because bacon is processed. Duh!

I'm in.

Okay, I've done a little cleaning up on the Wiki. As you'll see I think we should keep it as simple as possible and not try to cover everything. I also agree with relaxing the method of preparation a bit. Boiling? Boiling's okay.

I've also streamlined the veggies section. Lets get this behind us so that we can start!

Looks good to me. I'm going to drink Tamarind that week. It's a pulpy fruit that makes a nice drink.

Oh man, I don't think i can do this.

Because of the drugs I'm currently taking I need daily monitoring, which means I have to move closer to the clinic...which is three hours away from my house. At this point in time I don't know where we'll be living or even if I'll have a kitchen/kitchenette/hot plate available to me. In short, I may be eating out virtually every meal for the next 4 weeks.

On the other hand, I counted my drug doses today and I only have enough for 8 more days, so maybe I'm being over-dramatic (uh, continuing or stopping the dosage is dependent on how my body reacts to them, so I don't know exactly how long I have to be there, if that makes any sense?)...

M, the sad

That sounds like a rough ride, Moonrise. I hope it all works out for the best for you!!

I'm ready to start the paleo week after the weekend maybe. We're visiting my parents this weekend so who knows what we'll be eating. Proteus, the wiki's looking good! How shall we track our progress on it? Should everyone doing it make their own little subpage? Or am I completely out of left field, lol.

Yes, Moonrise, do whatever it takes to care for yourself. This is supposed to be fun, but it won't be any fun if you've got obstacles like that. We'll do it again, or maybe we'll like it som much we'll never come back from it!

Kallyn, yes, I think individual pages are a GREAT idea! But we can also use this thread. I hope next week works out for me too.

Permitted foods are also ok with me.

BUT: what about reducing/eliminating cleaning/washing products? What about exercising? Otherwise, it’s really veeeery approximate paleo .
I believe since we’ve made up our minds to make it a challenge, then this should be as serious, as honest as possible, with very little adjustments.

I think anything you find paleo and want to strive for, you should! We don't have to have a consensus on all this, IMHO.

Personally I draw the line at wandering around the city naked with a sharp stick for a week.

It might be July before I can do this. I have loads of social things coming up.

Sounds interesting, and I would like to join for a few days before I leave for my trip. (While on vacation, I already know, it ain't gonna happen no matter how hard I try!)

I see the "no nightshades" but I don't understand why. Maybe I missed the explanation? (I don't have a problem with that, I'm just curious.)

Wasn't it Audette that excluded nightshades? I remember one of the paleo book authors out there excluded them due to their arthritis issues. Anyway, that's why I am excluding them, I want to see if it helps my joints.

Can I get some clarification on the nightshades? These are what? Tomatoes, peppers? Eggplant? Can someone give a list for me? I also have arthritis and would like to see if eliminating nightshades helps - but I need to know what the heck they are!! Thanks in advance for the help.
