What Playdoh said. This guy will probably never even post again... he's not interested in a debate. Probably is terrified of our arguments starting to make sense, just like most hard-core devotees I've discussed things with. Religion is one of the things that can produce something like a fanatic. Diet is another. Read it as the funny and slightly sad piece of crap that it is, then let's forget about it.

I just have to say for 5 yrs I followed a vegetarian diet and I was at my heaviest weight and always hungry. I actually had someone say to me "I thought vegetarians were always thin?" Well I proved that wrong.

Here's my question. Has anyone who posts here regularly ever gone to a forum for people who follow another eating plan and attacked their chosen way? That would never have occurred to me--and yet we seem to attract all kinds of flakes (actually I like the word trolls) who are determined to convert us.

And what makes us respond? Is it fun to feed (and bait) the trolls of the world? Must be--at least this one didn't keep coming back for more like that idiot on April 1--Ball????

I think you're all mad.

We evolved to only store 24 hours worth of carbohydrate, but months (years!) worth of fat. I agree that even a vegetarian can be obese but those I know are lean with low cholesterol. I would guess a fat vegetarian with hypercholesterolemia probably eats a lot of sweets along with the veggies.

If you have the energy to burn all those carb calories, then you should be healthy and lean. But your point is valid; most people eat too much. Too much of any food is bad. Carbs trigger insulin which quickly shunts the sugars to muscle and liver. But for some, the insulin works too well, causing low blood sugar. Which makes some eat more sugar to get the blood sugar back up. Like you said, people eat too much. Too much meat made my cholesterol go up, so I'm not a fan of Atkins.

And you're right that this website is like a religion. Like any religion, there are acolytes who don't want their beliefs challenged.

I do not follow "organized religion" so I do not see this site as a religion - I use this site for support as would any other website that has people come together that have the same problems to face & overcome such as a cancer site or divorce or dealing with any other issues that people need support for. Would those websites be considered a religion?? Nope they are support!!

what's truly amazing is that you, Piet, chose to spend... what 15, 20 minutes? of your precious life composing and posting this dribble.

I think a good idea of a cult is veggieboards or rawfoodtalk , they are more cultish and bash and make fun of anyone who eats meat, I was very unwelcomed there.. It is a major factor in what turned me off to their diets. This board does not bash people, and they clearly hold normal debates with out name calling and childish behavior! I have NEVER been to a Atkins site that was "cultish" I think it is because Dr.Atkins clearly wrote his book for the will of helping people and not to make a profit (unlikes other diets) and gave LOTS of facts . So kudos to Dr.Atkins!
