I can understand if you felt confused not knowing how much 100g are! The smart thing about it is that if it says 23g of fat, then you know that it's also 23% fat and you can calculate your grams of fat even if you eat 437 g of the food. What annoys me very, very much is that not all foods (especially sweets and chocolate) tell the nutrional facts, just the ingredients.
When I started doing this I got out my old food scale and I try to weigh as much of my food as possible (but I cheat all the time, of course...).
I also agree that we should try to eat more natural foods. That's one of the things that appealed to me about this woe.
