Nikkil, those rotisserie chickens are a staple at our house. Its our version of fast food. They are often cheaper than a raw whole roaster, and they are more tasty than anything I generally create.

Supermomm makes a good point too, cookig is fun and I'm now training the kids on some basic tasks. Even the six-year-old can crack an egg like a pro now. And they are aksed to help with dishes, and at this point they are eager to help. I suppose this will change as they get older. But right now it promotes a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and most importantly, family.

My thoughts on the Benefits of Chores - your children learn some skills, it may not really be easier for the parent because of the supervision needed at first. The biggest benefit is that a child learns that there are things in life that you have to do even if you don't enjoy / want to do them.

We buy meats and veggies at the store.
I just thaw a meat, cube it up
add the veggie some grapeseed oil
spices and 15 min later I have a yummy dinner.
For sauces: sour cream, alfredo, enchilada, butter, salsa
the variations are limitless.
