Thumbs up 25 lbs by Xmas

I think I'll join. I like the idea. It's very inspirational which might make me think about what I put in my mouth at 10 p.m. when that carb craving hits. I just can't seem to knock that craving. But this "25 by Xmas" idea might help.

Hi, I'm so glad I found this thread...
My boyfriend's fam is taking us to the Bahamas for Christmas and I first thing that ran thru my mind is "AHHHHH A BATHING SUIT IN WINTER " but this competition or updates on everyones' progress sounds awesome

Here's my details:
Started Atkins 10/11/2001, Day 1 - 173
Day 16 - 166
Sooo...since you guys are weighing in mondays...I'll post my start weight this Monday (I'll probably still be at 166 so here are my weekly goals) and then be on track next Monday with everyone else...

Atkins Day 19, 10/29, (End of everyone's Week 1) - 166
Day 26, 11/05, (Week 2) - 162.875
Day 33, 11/12, (Week 3) - 159.75
Day 40, 11/19, (Week 4) - 156.625
Day 47, 11/26, (Week 5) - 153.5
Day 54, 12/03, (Week 6) - 150.375
Day 61, 12/10, (Week 7) - 147.25
Day 68, 12/17, (Week 8) - 144.125
Day 75, 12/24, (Week 9) - 141, which is soooo close to my goal

I hope I can do this, don't get me wrong, I'm motivated, but I hope my body will keep up. I originally had my goal weight of 135-140 projected for FEB 15th....
Good Luck everyone, I will definitely be weighing in.

Is everybody ready ... ? We're gonna kick some carb butts her folks.

Say Erin, how did you figure out how much you should weigh on a particular weigh in date (asks Norma June who is mathematically challenged ...

Day 68, 12/17, (Week 8) - 144.125
Day 75, 12/24, (Week 9) - 141,

Is this how you figure it out .... ?

Start date to Christmas = 58 days
58 days = 8.29 weeks
divide 25 lbs. by 8.29 weeks = 3.01 lbs per week weight loss to get to the goal?

Hmmmmmm ....

Default How I did my math...

I actually just said nine weeks (b/c everyone started 6 days ago) and the 24th of Dec. is a Monday (i'm cheating Christmas day with a Montecristo), BUT since I missed the first week, I divided 25/8 weeks, which is 3.125 lost per week If you started on that first Monday, it would be 2.78 lbs. a week. I noticed you started on Wednesday so if you let me know if you want to be starting last Monday or what weight you'll be starting out with this Monday, I'll do your math...I have a scientific calculator that spit the numbers right out. (I can do it by you starting last Wednesday too, that way you'll know if your on track for tomorrow's weigh in).

Good luck.

Default Norma June, here are you're goals...

Hopefully (for my sake) you started on Wed. the 24th and here are your numbers.

Since you started Wed, by tomorrow you should have lost 2.2 lbs and be a 156.8
Week 2 - 9 you should lose 2.85 lbs per week.

11/05, (Week 2) - 153.95
11/12, (Week 3) - 151.1
11/19, (Week 4) - 148.25
11/26, (Week 5) - 145.4
12/03, (Week 6) - 142.55
12/10, (Week 7) - 139.7
12/17, (Week 8) - 136.85
12/24, (Week 9) - 134

This is only correct if you weighed 159 on Wed. the 24th If you weighed more or less just use 2.2 for last week and 2.85 for the next 8 weeks to figure out what your goals are. And if you want to do what I did (starting this Monday) use the last thread I posted...
Hope that helps, sorry if it sounds confusing.

Hi Erin, thanks for the help. Speaking of help ... holy toledo do I ever need help! We went away for the weekend to visit my MIL. Everything she cooked was high carb!

So you were figuring I would weigh in tomorrow at 156 lbs. huh? 156 lbs? Don't I wish . . . .

Okay now as far as the scientific calculations go could you ... ahem, uh (blush, blush) could you please start me off tomorrow (Monday) at 164 lbs. and do your great calculations for me. I'll post my weight tomorrow but I figure it wont be far away from 164 lbs.

I don't profess to understand how you calculate it but I'll take your word for it. Too far above my head.

Mucho thanks. Oh, by the way, my name is Norma JUNE not Norma Jean.

Default Calculations for tomorrow:)

You need to lose 3.125 lbs. a week for 8 weeks (which puts us at Christmas Eve morning).

If you start tomorrow at 164, you should be:

160.875 by 11/05, (Week 2)
157.75 by 11/12, (Week 3)
154.625 by 11/19, (Week 4)
151.5 by 11/26, (Week 5)
148.375 by 12/03, (Week 6)
145.25 by 12/10, (Week 7)
142.125 by 12/17, (Week 8)
139 by 12/24, (Week 9)

Now no more high carb foods Norma Jean

Good Luck and I'll see you in the Group Journals tomorrow.

Default Is 3.125 lbs. a week possible?

To be honest Norma June, I have no idea. From what I've been told, you can only lose up to 2 pounds of fat a week (check out the thread from the Daily forum on water weight b/c Nat explains that). But I don't know what factors that includes - sendentary or w/exercise...
I'm sure everyone is different and I'm just coming off Induction so I haven't really figured out my body yet with this whole LC thing.
Do you find you're resistant to weight lose? How about your water intake? Cheating? Etc...

It's got to be possible...but I'm not the person that should be answer this...I'll search the site a bit, and get back to you...

If you think about, most of the people doing this 25 lb. thing before Christmas, depending when they started, are going to have to lose bw 2.5 lbs. (maybe slightly more) to our 3.125 a week, so it'll work
