I was talking to the owner of Memphis today about something else and mentioned we were going to be there at 7:00 on Thursday. He said he would put a table aside for us.

Ruth P., I might join you if I get the dogs walked in time. I'll talk to you at the class tomorrow.

Hi Ruth/Arjay....meeting early sounds like fun. JJ Bean is a good starting point (it's at 2206 Commercial Dr., around 6th on the East side). What do you think? And Karen? Anyone else?

PS Does anyone know if there's a place to buy Matcha on the Drive? Or do I need to head over to T Tearoom?

The cheapest place to get it is Fujiya at Clark and Venables. I can bring you some if you want, I seem to be overstocked with matcha. And some Belsoy too!

The dogs have to be w----ed before dinner, so the earliest I could be there would probably be around 6:00.

Wow, now there's an offer I can't refuse. BTW, I'm thrilled to see the recipe for Matcha ice cream in your new book! Don't think that can wait till the ice and snow (and rain and whatever else is in store for us the next few months) go away. I searched all over for a green tea ice cream recipe awhile back and finally gave up. Of course matcha makes so much sense!

And speaking of bringing things: Don't know if you remember I told you awhile back about this book by a Canadian woman who moved to a farmhouse in France (Belonging: Home away from Home by Isabel Duggan)--I can bring that for you if you're at all interested in a fairly light read sometime.

Don't know what w---ing is, but it sounds interesting: Woofing? Warping? Weaving?

Another good place to meet up is Turk's Coffeehouse, closer to Memphis Blues: http://www.thedrive.net/turks/ . Maybe that could be a 6:00 rendezvous spot unless someone has another idea?

Turk's is fine with me. I'll meet you there at 6. I just phoned Santa Barbara Market and they're open until 9. And since it's Thursday, maybe other places are open as well.

I think I'll still show up around 4:30 or 5. I have a doctor's appointment and will be out and free. Also, I got a new camera for Xmas and I think I'll wander around and take street picutres and maybe inside as well. (1 Gigabyte of storage!)

And yes, Karen, I'd love to but some matcha tea and Belsoy from you.

Enjoy the day!

Sounds good. I can read it on the plane.

Walking. They're not around so I can type it out.

If I'm not there at 6:00, carry on without me!

OK, but I hope you bring back-up in case you don't really like it....

OK, Ruth--looking forward to seeing you. Is there a photo of you on the forum somewhere so I can refresh my memory and recognize you? Or would you like to try out your brand-new camera and post a new pic somewhere? And does this mean you'll be our official LC dinner photographer Thursday night?

I don't think I'm going to make it, guys... didn't go to the office today and don't plan on it tomorrow either. It's not that I'm deathly ill or anything, but just don't feel well. I can work at home so that's cool, but I don't want to push things by going out, either. Have a good time!
