Well, my doctor told me to eat this way. I guess because I went in and described symptoms between meals, including extreme shakiness, dizziness, and ravenous hunger (this was before CAD). He said I was getting "reactive hypoglycemia". This is would be a couple hours after a meal (a standard American meal, with carbs). So I guess I know the symptoms of hypoglycemia, at least the way my body "talks" to me about it. Some folks apparently get moody, too.
And I get a little bit of that when I have, say, a mid-afternoon diet soda w/o any other food to "buffer" the effect. Fortunately, I know the symptoms so well, and how I'm likely to react, that I rarely have just the soda, I will have something else at the same time (high protein, high fat, high fiber, usually all three, like a large salad or something).
I think some of this is in the book. Remember, I had to learn how to listen to my body, too. Before my doc told me about CAD, I would just cave to the ravenous hunger, and eat a lot of food, usually high-carb; then two hours later, I'd be ravenous again, and eat another high-carb snack or meal. Then, two hours later ....
(do you see a pattern here, LOL? I don't know if you see any patterns that are similar - this was just my experience, results do vary ....)
