surprisingly great energy given the low cals, and today went shopping at the local Whole Foods market...holy mother of food gods do they have some of the yummiest foods, but I was nto really tempted. I did pick up a container of fresh tapioca pudding to eat with some berries later as my cheat dessert...only a small amount, but it will satisfy the need. That an my barbequed steak and grilled veggies and I think I can say this dieting stuiff ain't half bad.

Yup. Dieting really doesn't have to be painful. I think the "fitness gods" who seem to espouse that philosophy REALLY hate people like us who actually ENJOY our food, but get fit anyway.

How DARE we!

Liftnlady -

Just read through your journal and I have a question. What do you do for the "depletion workout twice in 30 minutes"? I've read about CKD and am familiar with the depletion workout before carb-up, but this one escapes me. Is it a light weight / high rep full-body circuit?

I'm new to this, sorta. I did LC last fall with mediocre results, but I wasn't lifting and don't think I had the energy. Now I'm looking at CKD/TKD/NHE to see if something like that will work for me. But it's SO much information (I've been lurking on the CKD forum for a couple of days and reading old posts).

Thanks!
Betsy

Hey Betsy,

I am following a program set up by a trainer, the depletion workouts are basically a circuit I do after my heavy sets. There are 3 circuits total, but I can get through 2 full ones in 30 minutes. Basically reps vary from 10-12, 12-15, 15-20...weight as heavy as you can go with 30 seconds rest between sets...which is just enough time to move to the next exercise. There are about 10 different exercises in each depletion cycle and you rest 2 minutes between each cycle...so roughly 13-15 minutes per cycle.

Plan for today, weights could change.

Incline Dumbell Press

30 x 3 x 4 sets, 25 x 3 x 4 sets...could have pressed the 30's, just could not get them up wothout a spotter for the last 4 sets.

Barbell Rows

100 x 3 x 2 sets, 80 x 3 x 6 sets

2 depletion cycles in 30 minutes

cals-1431
prot-225
carbs-58
fat-30

well I said that is subject to change...I know I can press them for 3 reps, it is just getting them up without a spotter that is the problem...so it may get changed to 30's once I get there....keeping my fingers crossed !!

I saw somebody do it once by loading to the knee, then "popping" it a tich with his knee.

Maybe I'll try it next week, since now I'm feeling unmanned...

Built! I`m disappointed-- why compare yourself to the men when there are powerful women like Liftnlady? I think you are feeling out-womaned. I know I am. I can only press 20lb dbs at the moment.
