Thanks to Sally for mentioning the Tapenade Bistro in this thread! When I picked Mischa up at the airport on Saturday, we decided to head towards Steveston for lunch and ran into the Tapenade. The only reason it meant anything to me was because of the mention on here. It is located across the street from the boardwalk area and has a nice outdoor patio with sun umbrellas.
We had a fabulous lunch, starting with white wine spritzers and sharing an appetizer of:
Goat Cheese in Prosciutto - Prosciutto wrapped peppered goat cheese served on seared spinach drizzled with basil olive oil.
Mischa ordered the Warm Scallop Salad - Large scallops and pancetta sautéed with peppers, herbes de provençe & tomato in a dijon dressing. Served over baby salad greens and pea shoots.
And I got the Niçoise Salad - Provençal salad with grilled tuna, anchovy, asparagus, potatoes, olives, capers, egg and tomatoes tossed with classic red wine dressing [hold the potatoes].
Both salads were really good, as was the appetizer! The prosciutto was crispy, which was unexpected, but the contrast in textures with the goat cheese was phenomenal! Very, very good and highly recommended (in fact, I could have easily made a meal from 2 or 3 of their appies)!
The website again is http://www.tapenade.ca in case anyone is looking for a cool place to eat!
