Course, it'll have to be some variation on your own NY Style Cheesecake recipe!
Umm, thanks for the offer!

I'll ruminate on something vaguely Indian...I used to love gulab jamun in my former life and they would be pretty easy to make low carb...hmm...

No idea what gulab jamun is!

Does this mean you don't want a cheesecake from me? Or just that you'd prefer something "new"???

I'm grateful for any desserts that anybody brings, whatever it may be...can ya tell I'm not too fussy about desserts???

Jeannie: should we take this opportunity to do what we were talking about when we went to see The Passion? PM me about it and we'll work it out...

gulab jamun are those round balls (bit smaller than a golf ball) fried a golden brown and drizzled with sweet syrup and there are nuts in them (almonds and/or pistachio) -- yum!! You see them in the Indian sweet shops

If you made me a cake, then it would be my birthday, and it's NOT my birthday. But, we can have both! Double dessert!

I used to be such a piggy-girl that I would have four orders of gulab jamun at Indian restaurants. But only if they were good gulab jamun. I was such a discerning carbaholic that I never had the food equivalent of drinking sherry out of plastic bottles.

This sounds intriguing in a slightly scary way.

Jean (and maybe Rob)
Anny (and maybe her DH and maybe a friend)
Nicole
Wynter
Malvene
Ruth
Karen
Teresa
Sarleye (maybe)

Re the dessert issue... given that it's NOT Karen's birthday (I gather - when is it, anyway? LOL).. I will make some ginger cookies that I want you to try. I love them, personally, and Mischa and Nicole both tried them at my place and said they were good...

Yes, it is... here's the link: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...ies#post1635226

I make them very small - the flattened cookie is about the size of a walnut, maybe? And you can see that I got 47 from the recipe.. I made the icing the first time, but never used it (it's in the freezer). I liked them without it! The cookies are only 1 net carb when you make 36, so pretty low carb. I had to stop making them.. LOL Oh, there's a picture attached to the post, I forgot about that!

I would love to come, and I've written the address in my schedule at work BUT I don't get off work until 6, and I'm coming from Broadway and Cambie via the dreaded Transit.
But if you don't mind me coming a bit late........

Don't forget that Karen will be there.....can you think of anyone better to advise us? I can't Can you imagine a cluster of us at the buffet table while Karen gives us a mini talk on what each dish is? Kinda like one of her farmer's market tours! It's going to be great fun!

Yep! At the East and North Van Farmers Market. I showed the group in North Van how to trim an artichoke using my Swiss Army knife.

Maybe we should do a low-carb tour of the T & T in Metrotown one day. It's not quite as interesting as Chinatown but it's easier to navigate.

Don't worry Duchesse. I've eaten there and lots of things are safe.
