June 5th works for me and since it is the day before my son's birthday and he loves Gage Park I could bring him down with me too if you all do not mind a 14 year old 'budding photographer' around.

June 5 sounds great to me too! What time? What should I bring. Does everyone just want to "BYOC" (bring your own carbs) or do you want to do "pot-luck"?

Darn! I'm in Streetsville that day working the Bread and Honey parade... but I'll wave to you from the Skyway on my way home.

Ok June 1st it is. It will be a pot luck...lets try each others carb creations. I can bring the paper plates and utensils, napkins etc. Our pot luck will have to be a non bbq. gage park doesn't have them and I don't drive. So will work with it that way.
Yes of course you can bring your son... we need pics anyway. I have a14 yr old also I'll bring him too.
We'll have to work out the time and how we'll know each other.
So how many people will be participating? We'll need to know for sure for when we prepare our food. May I suggest that everyone bring their own water and lots of it. No dehydration allowed
This is going to be a blast. Does anyone have any lawn games etc, that they could bring? A baseball game sounds good. I have a bat.. no gloves. We'll work something out... all suggestions would be great

Hi Chefs

I tried to PM you, but I guess you can't recieve them yet!!!!!

Perhaps I could see if anyone from Toronto would like to come June 5 to the picnic??!!?? We could start a new thread for it.

I would likely rent a car for the day, because I hate coming in a group on public transport, especially if it's a potluck!!

Thanks for your reply

Whew. You had me worried for a sec there because my son is really wanting to come too (he loves Gage Park) and he said if it was on a Tuesday he would not be able to go because he would be in school.

Glad to see it was just a typo.

Anyhoo since I will be taking public transit (the HSR) I was just thinking of bringing picnic style lunch for my son and I because it would be too difficult to carry any dishes filled with food on the bus.

Any idea on where down there will we meet or do you need someone to go scout out a location in the park to meet? I would be happy to do that for the group before the planned date of the get together.

I think it would need to be at the back of the park area near Lawrence Road as there are nice big lawns there (wondering if I ever saw picnic tables back there though)

Hey Everyone! The back of the park where the Lawrence road area is, is perfect. There is parking right there and the baseball diamond is there too for those of you who would like to indulge in a game. (My arthitic knees won't let me, but I'd love to cheer you all on!) Bring your own chairs (and drivers, maybe try to bring some extra for those coming on transit). Maybe a card table or two? I don't know if there are picnic tables there. Bring blankets at least for the ground. It will be a blast!

If we have a lot of people (from Hamilton & T.O.), do you think we need a permit or permission from the City?

Hi again

I will tell everyone at our next luncheon about the picnic, then I will post a new thread about it, to see if anyone else wants to come to the big Ham. (mmm...ham...)

Mary

PS I will need a map of sorts. Anyone know of directions online to gage park? Is there a ham.com site that has the info? Thx
