Not sure what you mean by "eye problem"?? Do you mean dry eyes, like sicca syndrome?? Or are you having problems with your vision?

It's basically the same problem as with other muscles. I can not use my eyes first thing in the morning without getting very ill because the eye muscles don't seem to function properly until around 11:00 or so. And my vision is changing so fast I can't keep up with the presciptions. I have read that this can be part of FM, but have yet to find anyone else who suffers with it. It can feel like someone has their finger in my eyes,

What is FM? Sounds like something you might want to see a doctor about. Keep us updated!

Default Hi, buggblue...

FM is fibromyalgia...
CFS is chronic fatigue syndrome...and
SAD is seasonal affective disorder (which I also have).

The interesting thing about having SAD and FM is that I have noticed my flares get worse when I have SAD.

The eye problem is a part of FM, but apparently is not dealt with by many people.

Mine isn't anywhere as bad as what you have, I get the blurred vision, problem focusing at times, and painful strain if doing anyone thing for to long...computer, tv, reading. I usually just have to close my eyes for a while until things straighten back out.

I'm so sorry you are having problems.

HI,
Don't know if this helps, but I have severe fibro and restless legs (RLS) and I get very blurred vision laot, is this what you mean? I worked as an Optometry Assistant for 15 years and never heard the connections but when I read on the web, this was a common symptom, I know diabetics have this problem.
Was I much help to you?
I have a hard time finding my messages on here, so if you want, you can e-mail me at janandden1~yahoo.com
Thanks,
Jan

Default eye problems

I was diagnosed with Keratoconus about 5 years ago but I have had Fibro
for 18 years now and I am convinced it is that. I basically have problems focusing, dry eyes, constant prescription changes, changes in my cornea,
I really do think it is all related to the Fibro and not true keratoconus.
I use eye drops for the dryness, reading glasses over my regular glasses, I try not to rub my eyes as that weakens the cornea. Not much else to do except work on keeping the fibro in check.

OMG, that sounds like exactly what I have.

Just redently, I was finally diagnosed with adrenal fatigue from a holistic practioner, and she put me on an adrenal booster and strangely that seems to be helping my eyes a little bit.

Do you also get times when it feels like someone has their finger in your eyes? And just eye pain. I call them my "eye headaches" and I have to laugh because now my husband calls it that too! I made up a new medical term!

Default Thank you

Yes I have that too but not as often. I have to press on my eyes slightly with my eyes closed to relieve the pressure.

I am so happy to have found your post cause I was just reading your symptoms of adrenal exhaustion and I have that every day. I wake up feeling very agitated which I know is from high cortisol levels I also never felt like I slept at all.,Sometimes it takes me till around 3 pm to feel a bit calmer ,but agitated would be the way I feel. I get extremely fatigued about 7-8 am and I used to want to go back to bed or just couldn't stay awake and had a very slow day. IT used to be worse but somewhat better over the past 5 years since I work at home now and am not raising my 3 kids alone.

WHAT are you on for adrenal supplements. I have tried all kinds of stuff over the years but I haven't been very consistent about taking it. I would like to find out more about this.

Debbie

PS Did you start an online journal ? couldn't find one for you.

No, I don't have a journal. Too much effort, I guess.

What I noticed so far, and very quickly, is that I don't get that tiredness around 8:00 am anymore. I used to feel it while I was driving to work and now it's gone! I am now waking up ready to go, alert, and feeling pretty good. And it is making my eyes better. I was actually able to read the Sunday paper in the morning for the first time in about 3-4 years.

These two symptoms are the main ones that made realize the diagnosis was right. I have not been able to find anything else that had all my symptoms. One or two or several would always be missing. I have a better listing of symptoms with explanations, but I can't remember where I got it from. I list it out if you want.

Waking up feeling more tired than when you went to bed;
[I]Increase symptoms of PMS for women; period are heavy and then stop, or almost stopped on the 4th day, only to start flow again on the 5th or 6th day.

Default Oh, I forgot to answer the question...

Here are the supplements I on:

Siberian ginseng (it has to be siberian)
Vits B and C (especially panthothenic acid) sp?
Licorice
Dessicated bovine adrenals
No caffeine
No smoking
No alcohol

A good nights sleep every night.
Lessen your burden of stress if possible.

I am doing the Vit D experiment, so I am also taking calcium and D. And I take evening primrose oil at night before bed.

I just bought the cortisol connection last night and have skimmed, read, reread, I know this has been a huge problem for me for a long time.

I am going to get back on my daily supplements, and I think I will go with Schwarzbein again because that is the diet most closely reccommend in his book for reducing stress.

I slept really good last night cause I took my sleeping herbs .I woke up
ready to go. I am going to do some time on my treadmill and then go get breakfast.

I am glad your eyes are doing better. SLEEP does make all the difference.
I notice a drastic improvement in my eyes during the times I do manage to
get enough sleep.

I take something called tranquilite by new chapter and also 5-htp
both help me to sleep good.
Well gotta run but thanks for getting back to me.

Sorry if you've been asked this already, but have you guys had your thyroid levels checked? There are some top thyroid doctors who believe that Fibro is a symptom of Hypothyroidism.

http://www.drlowe.com/
https://www.endfatigue.com (a Fibro/CFS survivor himself)
http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/cfidsfms.htm
http://www.thyroid-info.com/news/mar2004special.htm

I'm not talking about TSH, either. I'm talking about Free T3 and Free T4 levels. I've been through Fibro and CFS, blah, blah, blah and finally got diagnosed with hypothyroidism last fall (with a "normal" TSH).

Often adrenal fatigue goes hand in hand with hypoT as well. If you're looking for a good book, Dr. Schwarzbein's 2nd book deals exclusively with adrenal fatigue and insulin resistance. However, the gold standard is Dr. Wilson's book "Adrenal Fatigue".

I hope you guys are able to sort out all these problems. It sucks!

Wanda
