Hi!

I've just returned to the Forum and the low carb WOE.

It's great to see the low carb products becomin' more easily available. I love the Carb Correct bread from Co-op. Along with its' usual uses, it makes great breadcrumbs to fry zucchini in!

I am interested in those jelly bellies...but I think I'll wait for a few weeks. Naturally, I don't want to go out in this freezin' weather!

Sad about the deaths of the homeless gentleman and the senior citizen. Makes my hearte hurt.

Check in another time...

Yes n0ah,

These deaths upset me as well. Dispite that fact that I complain, I thank my lucky starts that I'm healthy and have a warm home to go to.

Can someone explain to me how this works? Unless I read it wrong it states in the Atkins book that to figure out Net Carbs take the Gross Carbs and subtract the Dietary Fiber.

An Atkins Advantage Bar shows 22 Gross Carbs on the back, and the Dietary Fiber is 0, so how can they say that there bars have only 3 Net Carbs?

What am I missing?

It's got something to do with the sugar alcohol and that is a carb but doesn't affect our blood sugar so it's not counted as a net carb.
If you are having trouble figuring out the carbs on a product the hidden carb counter in the Low Carb Tool section is helpful

Just a quick note to those of you from Calgary!

D-Depot now has the wraps (la tortilla brand I think), they are GREAT!

Also - I go directly to Lake View Bakery and purchase bread, etc. there, but they also have BAKE MIX !!!!! I have used it lots!!! You can get 2 sizes, one is about a 750ml sixe container, and the other a 10lb box! The box is only $25.00!!!

I made the Zuccini (sp?) loaf from the Dr. A book and biscotti (sp)- they are both great, I was a little off on the measurements since most of it is in American-ese! 1/2 a stick of butter, etc. But next time I need to use more splenda! The loaf needed more cinnamon and I also added cloved to give it some more flavor!!! But all in all, they are GREAT!

My DH is kind of - sort of joining me with Atkins, so well see how it goes!!

Stay warm everyone!!

Cheers!!

I've not tried the low carb breads yet. I'll have to make a trip that way when the weather makes the roads a little less slippery. I have tried the Banana muffins/bread and really liked the taste. I also bought the corn bread and will try it in a couple of weeks.

What of the rest of you doing for exercise in this weather?

Default Low Carb Bread

I was at the New Superstore in Country Hills last night and they carry the Atkins low carb bread. In Whole Wheat and in MultiGrain... 6 carbs per slice..... For 3.22 if you buy 2 loafs or more, and 3.77 if you only buy 1.

The new Wal-Mart behind DeerFoot mall opened this week as well, they carry the Atkins advantage bars for 2.79, but they are one by one, they do not sell them cheaper if you buy bulk.......

wow - Atkins bread! That is a pretty good price too!

Thanks - I'll look for it!

As for excersie - I usually am staying in a hotel for work at least 4 days a week, I try to use the gyms there when it is a decent one! Other than that - not too much.

Does anyone do Winsor Pilates? I've been pricing out the DVD, I was just wondering if anyone here does them?

Just remember the nice weather is just around the corner and the outdoors will beckon once again. I'll have to take a trip to Superstore and Wal-mart to see what they have in the southwest part of the northwest.

I do know Safeway has started carrying some Atkin's products but I need to check it out more closely.

I get my bars at Costco 15 for $29.00. They only have them in the Chocolate lovers pack but at that price I'll even eat the cookies and cream which are my least favourite.
Walmart has good prices every so often too.

And someone said Superstore prices are good if you buy a box.
