FYI,
I was in to Planet Organic in the Saanich mall yesterday and found they have a new brand of LC bread. They usually have the stuff from Bond Bonds on fort but it's $8 a loaf and quickly gets kind of soggy. It'll do for a change....but this new stuff is a much better consistency and only $5 a loaf. I think the carb count is much higher though. It says 4.6 carbs in every 1/2 slice I think...strange way to put it but that would mean 9.2 carbs per slice. In great moderation and on maintanence it would be fine if it doesn't kick in cravings....anyway there you have it!

In the Thrifty's flyer that came in the paper this weekend, there is a small note on one of the pages, that starting in Janaury, they will be haivng a line of Atkins bread and bagels.

Do you have a buns Master near you?
In Courtenay they make a 3.5 crb per slice at about 5.69 a loaf.

I have'nt bought it as I eat Silver Hills bread, all grains, no flour, about 10-12 carbs, but I'm on maintenance. Mind you, I have eaten it since owl too, started out, one slice 2-3 times a week, but I'm fine with a slice or even 2 on a rare day. I think it is far superior to most low carb bread, since it is loaded with organic whole grains.
You can buy it at Thrifty's, safeway, ect, but I buy it at Mc Gavins Overload for 1.59 a loaf.it has to be frozen, then keep in the fridge, no additives.

Actually my whole family has eaten this bread for years.
Check it out, Cheers Kathy

Buns master's bread is superior to the LC loaf I bought at Edible Island made by the LC Baker. Buns Master loaf is tastier, slice is larger with lower Carbs!

I have to stay away from gluten so even the whole grain bread is not good for me.

I tried a LC ice cream recipe last night - (made in ziploc bags) - very good.

Hey Archie and Glenda thanks for the FYI. I will be looking at our Thrifty's flyers to see if they are going to do it here.
Betty-Anne I looked at ediable Islands stuff and just could not muster up the courage to try it, then I tried to make my own always turned out crumbly-hard to cut a slice so I had given up hope. Now I will try bunsmasters because I am dying for a bacon and tomato sandwich.
Kathy i will pick up that bread for my daughter as she has once again joined me on this WOE. But she needs her bread and I think that would be a good alternative for her.

Default Hot Chocolates goes LC!!!

Well here it is gals and guys --

Hot Chocolates (the best chocolate I have tasted made right here in Courtenay) 'is pleased to offer a compete line of carbohydrate-reduced chocholates, nut barks, candies and drink syrups --- sutible for your Atkins type diet'. ---- we will give a detailed sheet with carb counts and answer any ? you may have. They even have gift baskets for us LCarbers.

It is funny isn't it that a non-essential sweet for most (I am a chocoholic - essential for me) gets on the bandwagon first -- news yesterday stated 25,000,000 people on Atkins in USA alone. Time for other food producers to get on track too!!.

Hi everyone; I made a new discovery the other day too! The SaveonFoods in Campbell River now has low carb bread, only 3.99 per loaf. It has 5 carbs per slice. Boy can't wait to get to Courtenay to try that chocolate.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was great. I did get some peanut bark from Hot chocolates as a gift and it is really good. Also got lots of bath stuff in place of candy so I am a happy girl. Stayed almost low carb except for a piece of french bread, a small slice of cheescake and a small slice of gumdrop cake. On the drive up to victoria had 3 slices of pizza, but now I am in Victoria I will check out Village's pizza and get a few pizzas to take home with me.

Was in Thriftys just before Christmas and saw they had some low carb bread. I thought it didn't look as good as the LYNDIES stuff I get at Planet Organic in Saanich Centre so I skipped it but it's there if anyone is inclined.
A friend gave us some Ross bars & Atkins Bars for Christmas!
Still haven't tried Villages LC Pizza but must do that soon!
