Good Morning Ladies,
Wanted to check by for a quick hello before my grandson arrives.

Nance...Thanks for the suggestion to check for how many rotations my right foot makes in 1 minute.I will try that today and let you know. Thanks for the Real Age tip.I get receive those tips in my e-mail box plus a few others. When I come across some good ones I will be sure to share them with everyone.

Leidon...Congratulations for getting through your first week of induction. How are you feeling after the first week?Friday will make one week that I have really stuck to this WOE without little side trips a long the way.I feel pretty good.I'm also not as sore as I was the other day after first starting riding my bike.
I am nodding my head in agreement as to how my memory is slipping too.I know my daughter Kimberly gets aggravated with me when she asks me questions about a previous tv show's episode and I tell her that I don't remember what happened.I am hooked on some of the reality TV shows such as The Amazing Race and Big Brother. You will find me on my bike during these shows.

I just heard on our local news that bottled water is a booming business now.I know for a fact if I am out and about I now buy a bottle of bottled water to drink instead of a diet soda.I drink so much water now that a bottle of diet soda tastes so sweet to me now.Glad I have gotten to the point that I would rather have a bottle of water than a bottle of diet soda to quench my thirst.Have any of you found this to be true for you also?

Hope everyone has a great L/C day.Keep up the good work

Nancy

Morning gang!

Nancy, I counted between 80 and 85 revolutions this morning and that was around 14 mph. I lasted a whole 10 minutes for 2.2 miles! Giving new meaning to the expression "no pain, no gain"! LOL! Maybe we need to pick a central point in the USA and all aim for it? Open for suggestions on how to do this!

Rose, did you make it to the gym yesterday? Way to go lady! We'll end up being the healthiest group on the site in a few months. Well,we have some catching up to do to some of our members...but that's a challenge also. I notice some are way ahead of us with their excercise programs. Hooray for them!!! We can use them as examples to copy.

Leah, my short memory is so short it is almost nonexistent. Especially for names and numbers. I can still remember my sister's phone number from 30 years ago but can't remember the one she has had for the last 5 years! And I call her often!! SInce the big surgery I also have a type of dyslexia wehre I transpose numbers and letters. (I'm not going to edit the one I just did! wehre=where!)

Off I go to the shower and breakfast. Temp is cooling off here to 90° to day so I am going grocery shopping.

Have a glorious, healthy, happy day!!!
Nance

Nance,
When you counted the 80-85 revolutions in what amount of time was that?

I did as you suggested and counted my revolutions for one minute.I did 41 revolutions in a minute. My bike is set rather tight so you really pedal hard.I haven't found a place on the bike to loosen it up any.

I also lasted for 10 minutes.I try to do at least 2 or maybe 3 times on the bike for 10 minutes each.I have managed the whole 20 minutes at one setting but that is rather hard.

That's a good item to pick a place in the central part of the US.We could all go to Map Quest and do a route and find the mileage. Now what city should we pick?Any ideas as to what city is centrally located.I know they call St.Louis the gateway to the west.I lived in that area for 5 years.
Let's put our heads together and come up with a place.

Nancy

Chloesue, that was for one minute. My bike 'cycles' the information on the read-out screen every 30 seconds and I just multipied. Surprised I remembered how! LOL!

I like the idea of St Louis, MO! That sounds pretty darn central to me. LOL! I actually didn't bike today, but went for a fast walk down to the river...all-in-all about a half to 3.4 mile, but it is not level. There's one fairly steep stretch that had me huffing pretty good. I just bought the New Balance shoes the podiatrist wanted me to get for the PF and needed to try them out. I am amazed! No pain and no blisters...feel like having custom made slippers on!

Hope everybody has an ACTIVE day today with the best of LC eating!!

Be Healthy!!

Hey Nance,

Please tell me more about the new shoes - I wear New Balance too and I'd love to get some new ones. Not to be a dummy, but what's the "PF" that you needed the shoes for?

Thanks,

Holly

Sorry about the abbreviations mizholly! It's because 'plantar fasciitis' is hard to spell...and I don't know if I got it right that time! My podiatrist says it will heal by itself if I take good care of my feet...I refer barefoot to shoes, big no-no ...so he recommended New Balance 735's. I went to a New Balance fitting specialist (check out their website and they will direct you to a specialist in your area) and they did not have those but gave me 734's. Can you say AHHHHHH!? They make me want to have them on ALL the time! SO worth the eighty dollars I had to shell out for them.

Good luck finding something comfortable to wear.
Makes all the difference at the end of the day.

Oh! And welcome to the gang if I have not welcomed you before!

Stay healthy!
NAnce

Default St. Louis is fine with me!! :)

Ladies,
St. Louis sounds wonderful to me, my three sons and 3 grandchildren live there. I haven't seen them since last October! I also have a sister that lives there. I lived there for 15 years.

From where I live to St. Louis is: Total Distance: 622.13 miles
Total Estimated Time: 10 hours, 24 minutes (Driving!!!)

Let's see if I walk 3 miles a day.....it will take me 208 days to get there. (29 1/2 weeks or about 7 months from now) OMG, that would be around March of 2004!

How about if we all do real good (I havent been on the treadmill in 2 days) on our diets/exercise we could all plan on meeting in St. Louis for a get-together!!!!!! It will be our mini goal and we could celebrate. What do you guys think??

Here I am saying all this, and I'm having a hard time getting off the computer to hop on the treadmill for more than 15 minutes!!! Right now I'm trying to figure out why hubbies printer is not working since we went on a network!!! (does using what brain cells you have left, count as burning calories????)

Nance....sounds like you got yourself a good pair of shoes. I really need some too, and for $80 they better be real comfortable!!!

Gotta run (well, not actually run....walk that is)
Hollar at you all later!!!

"Meet Me In St. Louis!"

Leidon(Leah),
Which do your prefer we call you?

I lived in the St.Louis area from 1985-1990.We lived in Florissant.Where did you live in the St.Louis area and where do your sons and grandchildren live?

I'm going to go to Map Quest and map out a trip so I will have the distance and driving time to print out.

Will be back later and let y'all what I found out about my journey.

My Trip to St.Louis:

I am 610.83 miles from St.Louis
10 hours and 5 minutes driving time

Once Nance plots her mileage(I am afraid that she lives further from St.Louis than Leah and I do) we start our trip.

We need to pick a starting day so we can all start our journey together.

This should be fun

I forgot to tell how long it would take me to get to St.Louis.If I average 4 miles a day on my bike it should take me about 5 months which would be January. The month of January in St.Louis is very cold so I better hurry!!

LOL! I haven't had this much fun in years gals! I will try to find time to do the map quest thing. For now I have to go rearrange freezers. We have to pick up our beef tomorrow and there's over 2,000 pounds of it! You guys should come to my house and we'll BBQ!!! LOL!

Oh! I walked this morning AND did my Oxycise tape this afternoon! It feels so good to get back to moving again! I stay active on this five acres, but it isn't like sustained activity that does the most good.

Blessings All!

Not fair. You all are cycling, and I'm just walking. It will take me years to get to St. Louis at this rate.

Just kidding. I think you women are super. I wouldn't have the stamina to get on an exercise bike. Walking fast is about as much as I'm up for these days.

I found a personal trainer at the gym who has a reasonable fee, so next week I'll start working with her. She has a bad knee too, so we'll be in sync. By the time I get to St. Louis, I should look like Ms. Bodybuilder, right?

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Sorry Nance,
I was afraid that you were going to be further from the rest of us to St.Louis but I didn't realize it was going to be twice as far.

Would you like for us to change it to maybe Kansas City MO or some where more central to all of us.I would need to get my Atlas out later today and try to find a more central place. In what area of Oregon do you live?

I am down 4 pounds this week after weighing this morning.I am so happy, happy, happy!!!
