Default tea and body heat

Is there something in tea which makes it a (slight) metabolic booster? I don't mean anything strong enough to lose fat, but I've noticed that after drinking a cup or two of tea my whole body heats up and I sweat. The same think does not happen after drinking a hot cup of coffee, even though there is way more caffeine in the coffee (at least according to the sites I looked at on the internet).
Anyone know why?

Meg

It depends on the tea in question, Meg. Green tea does have thermogenic properties and enough of them that it aids in fat loss (studies demonstrate at the active ingredient in green tea can increase metabolism by 4% over a 24 hour period). Interestingly, the active ingredient is NOT caffeine.

I'm going to move this post to the Nutrition/Supplements forum - if you browse through this section you'll find a few posts about green tea and its effect on metabolism / fat loss and it's properties as a powerful anti oxidant - both wholehealthmd.com and supplementwatch.com have write ups about green tea.
