Nawchem, it probably has to do with insulin resistance. When you have the problem with insulin resistance, the insulin is released when you eat something carby but the sugar never gets into the cell properly, so you are always hungry and tired, I had terrible acid reflux and inflammation and would feel "drugged" after I ate, as in fall asleep exhausted. If you are not insulin resistant, you can eat those foods, feel full and carry on. That is why keto works so well for me, I am "off the insulin roller-coaster" thus I eat, feel full and carry on. I just can't eat carby foods and be happy and healthy. When I eat the other way I am constantly "thinking about the next meal", starving and then binging, and worse yet feel I have no "will power" and that is not good for the soul. So, yes, I too can not eat like those that are naturally thin.
