Exclamation "Help!" Chromium?

I've noticed several references on the boards about chromium, so I went to GNC(where I have a merchandise credit to use) to check it out. All they had was the GNC brand in several strengths and I didn't know what strength to choose. While I was reading the bottle I noticed the ingredient "red beet juice"(or something really close to that). Isn't that MSG?
I'd appreciate any tips, advice, knowledge, etc. re: choosing chromium, if it's necessary/helpful, and the like...

I take chromium picolinate. Each tablet is 200 micrograms. They are from Holland and Barrett in the UK.

I do lose weight but I wouldn't say it was exclusivly down to the chromium.

The Hellers recommend GTF (Glucose Tolerance factor) Chromium in the CALP book. They strongly caution against chromium picolinate, due to some recent studies. I have bee taking GTF for about 2 months with good result. Again the dose is 200 micrograms. Good luck!!

Just to make things more confusing. I just purchased a bottle at GNC that says "Glucose Tolerance Factor" on it, but it also happens to be Chromium Picolinate. I'm taking it back. Just wanted to point that out so people can be on the alert.

DANDR recommends Chromium Polynicotinate, and I've seen it mentioned in other threads that Chromium Nicotinate is also "good".

Agree, I came across articles against the intake of Chromium Picolinate as they may affect consumers' offsprings ...so beware...

I too finished my bottle of picolinate...and have been desperately searching for the polynicontinate...finally found some today, while shopping in a downtown mall (rarely get there)...mixed in with some "sugar control" stuff (vitamin a and the chromium mostly)....3 pills have about 300 mcg...so I plan to only take 2 per day to equal 200 mcg..as I already have 100 mcg in my daily vitamins.

I am so pleased to have finally found this - it does seem like my cravings have been worse since I 'finished" the others...but then again with TOM lurking it's hard to tell! Generally I do believe they have been helping. I do also supplement with EFA, Q10, the chromium and CLA!
